Gaben is our superior! Fathis Ules who is a fence for the thieves guild doesn't even go to his house! He goes to this orcs house and sleeps in a double bed with him!!! He can't get in the house until 5am because only the ORC has the KEYS!!! Fathis sleeps in Dul gro-Shug's house due to a design flaw. He clearly should have been marked to sleep in his own house, but Dul gro-Shug's house is right above it in the Construction Set and the wrong cell was chosen. This mistake will make life much harder for Fathis; he doesn't have the key to Dul's house, and will have to wait from 5am to 6am in front of the door until Dul unlocks it. When he is finally inside the house, Fathis will end up waiting outside the locked Private Quarters instead of sleeping. Also, in the evenings, depending on how you use the fast-travel and wait features, Fathis can often be found locked inside Dul's house. This is due to the logic used by the game engine which ignores locked doors in some instances and places him in Dul's house with no way to get out.

Actually...funnily enough... The way the dungeons were made in Oblivion is almost identical to the Doom 2016 Snap Map feature (the way you make custom maps for it). You're given a ton of pre-made sections, rooms, hallways, stairways, etc. You piece them together into a shape or design that you like, then just plop in items, enemies, doors, etc, until it's to your liking and call it a day. It almost feels like they took what they had from Oblivion's dungeon making days, and reused it as the Snap Map for Doom.

topkek. "room for modders"... if anything they have taken room for modders. they've streamlined their games so much you will barely find any good reference material in the actual game to build a complex mod on. sure you can add a hundred swords and villages en masse, of course the game will crash instantly because of ridiculous memory restrictions, but for any complex modding you need coders who can write scripts from scratch since beth cut so much content like levitation, jump spells, spellmaking etc that its a pain in the ass to reimplement that stuff at all. Also they deliver a *finished* product. So "room for modders" is no excuse for their buggy messes with reused models all over.

Simply, It would take much more time and resources to make a remaster of Oblivion as opposed to Skyrim. Basically, they would have to remake all the models, scripts, textures, etc. from the scratch if they were up to remastering Oblivion. Moreover, Skyrim runs the same engine as Fallout 4, and it only has the improved lightning and shaders (which is the main feature of the remastered verion). The reason why Bethesda's making that remaster is to give players an option to play Skyrim on PS4/XBONE.

Pretty much everyone designing and building the hardware and software. New stuff, or, inventions that enables more gorgeous / realistic renderings and effects are always a luxury, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate the different stages in its evolution? Most people do. There's a fine line of appreciating what you've got and starting to feel unsettled by the rapid changes and accidentally get stuck in the past because of it. It's a matter of where you "joined" / started to be a consumer of the products that came from the given stage in that evolution, and if you can appreciate the changes happening. This goes for anything, not just visuals.

@@gruntwithripit1386 I remember that. It was so awe inspiring that I was blown away. Then I remember accidentally stealing from a shop and thinking that I might be able to run away and they would forget about it. Halt! You violated the law. Lol

@@fathercadi man the elder scrolls is what made me a gamer. And the leap from oblivion to skyrim was INSANE. My favorite game of all time was immediately replaced by another bethesda elder scrolls game. We're a long way from it still, but if the es6 can replicate that feeling , it'll be worth it. And starfield coming out soon... bethesda just does not disappoint me. In my personal opinion, they're the best gaming company out there.

I started on Morrowind but I was so young, I can't remember any of it today other than it was "amazing". Then came Oblivion and I was totally hooked! I just downloaded Oblivion again today. Here's to spending the weekend in Cyrodiil 🙂

I love this game. I remember when I was 18, and got sucker punched, causing my jaw, and chin bone to break, I had to have surgery, and my face was so swollen, I looked like a chipmunk with its cheeks filled. I couldn't leave the house for months, and would sit, and play oblivion on my 360 all day, and night, loaded on pain killers, and smokin weed. Good times.

I've been a digital artist, 3D model artist and sculptor, texture artist and animator, using said skills to work with games engines (including Halo CE engine, Source, Unreal 3, Unreal 4 and Unity), for 18 years.. Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 really inspired me as a 3D model artist and games designer when I first started out. Been doing those things ever since. I actually use the same technique to create worlds. The "modular/Lego" construction technique.

The amount of times I've came back and watched this is astounding. I really admire how much passion and hard work these talented artists have put into the development. Its sad because passion and hard work seem to be lacking in the gaming industry these days.. Great video ❤

+Mata MacNeachdainn If you see every Elder Scroll game, from Arena until Skyrim, and from Fallout to Fallout 4, you can say why they say that in every time, never the less, they really need to set the bar higher if they want to beat CD Project Red with Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 no has any download screen in any of the playable areas, and every map is the side of Skyrim, and all the new Bethesda games have download screens for every place that you wanted to enter, the real question is if they really would reach that high.
@braffzackland69209 жыл бұрын
+TheKeyser94 TW3 does not have the level of interactivity or the scope of Fallout. Also Fo4 will have 1st and 3rd person mode, in TW3 you can select a shelf and pick maybe 2 or 3 items. In Fo4 you can interact with pretty much any item you see. They are completely different games and as far as immersion goes, Fo4 will be vastly superior.

Don't take him for inspiration since he is the one who butchered Elder Scrolls RPG mechanics down to the ground and the one who said to us "it just work" while presenting a game that still is one of the biggest scams in videogame history (only surpased by Cyberpunk 2077). Instead seek inspiration in the indy industry, from the creator of Stardew Valley to the developer of Undertale.

Love how they play the combat music over the bug testing section. I don't think people realize how different bethesda games were to other titles at this time. Even today, very few games can compare to the amount of systems being put in place. But no one was doing it then. They were the pioneers
