Gaben is our superior! Fathis Ules who is a fence for the thieves guild doesn't even go to his house! He goes to this orcs house and sleeps in a double bed with him!!! He can't get in the house until 5am because only the ORC has the KEYS!!! Fathis sleeps in Dul gro-Shug's house due to a design flaw. He clearly should have been marked to sleep in his own house, but Dul gro-Shug's house is right above it in the Construction Set and the wrong cell was chosen. This mistake will make life much harder for Fathis; he doesn't have the key to Dul's house, and will have to wait from 5am to 6am in front of the door until Dul unlocks it. When he is finally inside the house, Fathis will end up waiting outside the locked Private Quarters instead of sleeping. Also, in the evenings, depending on how you use the fast-travel and wait features, Fathis can often be found locked inside Dul's house. This is due to the logic used by the game engine which ignores locked doors in some instances and places him in Dul's house with no way to get out.

I think the issue with Todd is his constant lying. And I’m not even saying that in an accusatory way like HE’S A LIAR. In the sense that they have made great games with a lot of features, WHY do they always bring Todd out to embellish what’s in the game to such ridiculous levels!? When the moment people play the game they will see the stuff he mega hyped is not in the game.

@Dominiuk There's a difference between a buggy game a normal game, sure, you're not wrong, there's always gonna be bugs it's just the way it is, but Oblivion was infamous for being buggy as hell on launch, the type of buggy you can only get from wonky testing, Open worlds are hard to playtest admittedly, but it being a massive game is no excuse for terrible QA. Should we let Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem get away with how buggy it was too because they were massive games?

Actually...funnily enough... The way the dungeons were made in Oblivion is almost identical to the Doom 2016 Snap Map feature (the way you make custom maps for it). You're given a ton of pre-made sections, rooms, hallways, stairways, etc. You piece them together into a shape or design that you like, then just plop in items, enemies, doors, etc, until it's to your liking and call it a day. It almost feels like they took what they had from Oblivion's dungeon making days, and reused it as the Snap Map for Doom.

I’ve never felt as blown away by a video game than the first time I played this game. My friend introduced me to this game, I thought it was whatever during the tutorial dungeon… and then after exiting the tutorial I couldn’t believe the scope this game had in terms of world building, NPC interaction, lore, and all the different quest lines within one game. I’m hoping TESVI pushes video game boundaries in the same way Oblivion did in 2006. Skyrim was a refinement but didn’t feel like a huge leap forward. High hopes for the next one 🤞

topkek. "room for modders"... if anything they have taken room for modders. they've streamlined their games so much you will barely find any good reference material in the actual game to build a complex mod on. sure you can add a hundred swords and villages en masse, of course the game will crash instantly because of ridiculous memory restrictions, but for any complex modding you need coders who can write scripts from scratch since beth cut so much content like levitation, jump spells, spellmaking etc that its a pain in the ass to reimplement that stuff at all. Also they deliver a *finished* product. So "room for modders" is no excuse for their buggy messes with reused models all over.

Simply, It would take much more time and resources to make a remaster of Oblivion as opposed to Skyrim. Basically, they would have to remake all the models, scripts, textures, etc. from the scratch if they were up to remastering Oblivion. Moreover, Skyrim runs the same engine as Fallout 4, and it only has the improved lightning and shaders (which is the main feature of the remastered verion). The reason why Bethesda's making that remaster is to give players an option to play Skyrim on PS4/XBONE.

They stripped down the AI a bit too much, from sheer paranoia. That's the one thing that made Oblivion truly unique among all other RPGs: the Radiant AI. Angel Castro It was because the game would go off the rails. You’d show up to a town to find an important NPC killed, NPCs would travel from one town to the next and get ganked by bandits along the way, dungeons would be completely cleared out because someone already explored it, mountain lions and bears would break into cities and wreck havoc etc.

I mean, insane luxury... it's just the ability to render stuff increasingly realistic - thanks to hard working artists and programmers. Pretty much everyone designing and building the hardware and software. New stuff, or, inventions that enables more gorgeous / realistic renderings and effects are always a luxury, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate the different stages in its evolution? Most people do. There's a fine line of appreciating what you've got and starting to feel unsettled by the rapid changes and accidentally get stuck in the past because of it. It's a matter of where you "joined" / started to be a consumer of the products that came from the given stage in that evolution, and if you can appreciate the changes happening. This goes for anything, not just visuals.

I think Oblivion is quite underrated compared to Morrowind and Skyrim.....yes this game has many problems, it hasnt aged well and doesnt have as big support from modding community as its predecessor or sequel, but to me it still propably is my favorite game in the series.....I liked the main storyline (that has always been the weakest link along with combat in TES games) most in Oblivion as well as the side quests....and really enjoyed the beauty of Cyrodiil too, atleast in 2006/2007....too bad that unlike Morrowind and Skyrim, Oblivion never got same kind of graphical overhaul, you can make the game look better, but not nearly as you would like to.
