It's a real joy to catch on a float that you've made yourself, and what a days fishing you had, superb !!!✌❤ Bob.

It's thanks to you Andy, that I bought the same belt sander that you have. What a game changer it is, squaring bamboo bodies is a breeze, and sanding the tapers for float eyes, zip, zip and It's done ! No more poking my palm with the pointy end of the skewer, (anyone with a grain of sense would snip the point off, but hey thats me 🤪). ✌❤Bob. b

@@robertreid7221 a game changer indeed! I find the 400 grit is best. But that's just personal choice. ❤️🎣❤️

Have tried using a boilie drill to start the hole in the Sarkada reed, this will help to sto the body splitting. Really enjoying your channel.
@BlackBottomFloats7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your support! ❤️🎣❤️ Yes, a small drill is a great way to start the hole for the bamboo skewer, particularly when the sarkanda reed is thinner. Not so important when using the thicker reed. Tight lines! Andy.

after subbing a few nights ago i'm slowly making my way through your videos.... its nice to watch others and see how they differ slightly to my own float making... you are a natural... do you plan on making the traditional perch bobber and pike gazette bung among your videos, those i would defo love to see your version of them... you make me wanna start again... be good to see you use cork too! keep them coming fella!!! Hi Andy... I recently followed this video and made your Antenna float. It looks pretty good for a first try... A testament to your excellent instructions! After waiting patiently for 2 weeks to let the varnish harden, I was thrilled to catch my first fish (roach) on it yesterday. I'm now planning to make more, and will wish to keep them safe in a float box like the one in your opening credits. I'm struggling to find it on-line. Can you advise where I could get one? Thanks... Chris

@ceej100 Chris, you have made my weekend! I'm chuffed! With regards to the float box, you can pick up some on eBay but they can be a bit pricey. The company that makes them is called Stewarts. Shop around, they're out there. Good luck making more floats. Practice makes perfect! (I'm still practicing! 🤣)

I find it better to make a pilot hole for the inserts using a round rat tail file, prevents splitting the main body, its a choice thing
@BlackBottomFloats5 ай бұрын
Agreed. I definitely use a pilot hole on the thinner reed. A drill bit usually works well. The thicker reed is a little more forgiving. Thanks for watching! Tight lines. Andy.
