I lived and worked in Japan in the 90s, and it was then that I first saw Sanada-san's acting. He quickly became one of my favorite actors in Japan. Since then, I've been excited to watch his career growing in Japan and overseas. This new project is a great achievement for him. Congratulations to Sanada-san and the entire team working with him to bring the novel, Shogun, to life.

Hiroyuki Sanada is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE actors! I've followed him since he was a child with SONNY CHIBA! I'm LOVING SHOGUN, but I must admit what I've always wanted to see was Hiroyuki STAR IN HIS OWN MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE. Think about it, we've seen JET LI, DONNIE YEN, JACKIE CHAN, and TONY JAI, all STAR in THEIR OWN recent martial arts movies. I don't count a feature role in something like Mortal Combat/47 Ronin, and I'm not talking about the movies he made back in the day. I'm talking RECENT/NOW. BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE SOMEONE, ANYONE give this FANTASTIC MARTIAL ARTISTS his own MARTIAL ARTS ACTION MOVIE!

I was 20 when the Shogun miniseries came out and at the time everyone liked it, but this series blows it out of the water! It’s a work of art and I love how the women’s roles are very well written and acted. All due to Hiroyuki’s involvement as a Producer. I hope Hollywood lets him do much more. I loved him in Westworld too.

Now I understand even more why this story is truly a spectacle. Hiroyuki Shimosawa, in addition to being the main actor, is also using his knowledge in the production of this wonderful work of art. The Japanese have a lot of culture to teach us. My most sincere congratulations to the entire team who are helping us learn more about this extraordinary nation.

Glad Mr. Sanada is getting more recognition for his work in the film industry. I only know a small portion of his work, mainly in the US. But I did see Twilight Samurai when I was just starting to get into Japanese film. He's been one of my favorite, "That guy" actors, and I'm glad for a lot of people he is no longer "That guy" but a distinguished talent and force in the film industry.

Such a distinguished, fantastic person. I love the passion he brings when he's often portraying the culture and history of Japan. The scenes with him feel so authentic, im questioning wether he was there to experience it. He has been internationally known for many years, but it's beyond time he gets a bit more credit for his amazing portrayals.
