Wow. That moment where they rally together and inspire Doug, only for Doug to casually say that he prefers to have people out of the way -- really foreshadows his feelings towards them now.
@Raider7686 жыл бұрын

That's a bit of an unfair take on what he said. He's saying that he prefers to do things by himself rather than utilize other people, that he's not comfortable with relying on other people to help. And he admits this is a problem he has.

simval84 Fair, it can be interpreted that way. But it does sadden me that all that support doesn't seem to cheer him up at all. He just goes, "eh. I don't need support as much as people getting out of the way."

You know what....cards on the table. I LOVE the effort made by That Guy.... I wouldn't even ATTEMPT to do something like Suburban Knights...or anything this involved. Those who don't like what they're watching....don't watch it. For a regular film company ...there's MONEY and back up plans. These shows are done on a shoestring budget with people who must love what they're doing or they'd have found something else to do with their life and time. When worse came to worst and Doug asked everyone, "You wanna pull out and we'll do something else?" everyone wanted to get it done. THAT is DEDICATION. Even with all the interim griping about this and that. I applaud them.

It’s kinda sad watching this now, knowing how shitty things got and how shitty things always were, behind the scenes... and yet it also gives me hope to see the friendships that were formed in this bad situation that _did_ survive. This video kind of destroyed 1/3rd of all of CTC’s arguments (Doug was not aware of the problems on the set of suburban knights) and draws into question the other 2/3rds. Doug is literally on camera with the heads of CA talking about how he’s aware of the problems with production and had enough compassion to give his crew the option to close up shop for the production because he cared enough about them. This is apparently ’abusive’.

Love or hate what went on behind the scenes, there's allot of lessons learned and showing what it takes to make a micro budget independent event film. Every time I struggle with a film of my own, wither it be weather problems, scheduling or backup plans, I go to this documentary and the film itself for guidance. Really I don't care about peoples issues with the film and Suburban Knights despite that is still an fun piece of entertainment and I tip my hat off to Doug for putting up with so many road blocks and still putting out a funny product.
@stproducciones91404 жыл бұрын
you really shouldn't look up to them. the product is bad in both an artistic and technical level. Doug is not only incompetent but very oblivious to his own shortcomings. from a production standpoint, this is a complete trainwreck. you just shouldn't shoot a 2 hour movie in four days with people from all around the world who you're not even sure can show up at the stablished date. no film shoot ever goes as planned, but a lot of the problems showcased here could have been avoided if the bunch of manchildren who run TGWTG were a little less idiotic.

It's sad that the spirit of friendship and collaboration they have throughout the better part of this started to slowly die not long after they finished. I always found the work of these producers (the ones I knew) hit or miss, but I could appreciate young people with cameras wanting to explore their interests and experiment with technology, so the honest enthusiasm many had doing this kind of work is tragic when you know it was nearly over.

God. What happened to these people? At least on Lewis's part, there seemed to be genuine affection for Walker. Genuine appreciation, or at least a willingness to look past the many flaws to see a person who truly wanted to do his best. And yet, this is the same guy who had no qualms about turning against his fellow reviewers, never defending them, never even trying to get them safe work conditions and proper recognition. This is the same guy who covered up for a sexual predator, who ignored and left his friends in the dust for money. Doug Walker's friends honestly cared about him. But the feeling apparently wasn't mutual. And that's sad as all hell.
@CasualVideoGamer Жыл бұрын
Doug got caught up with the business side of things while the others were still - at some level - on the "do it because we enjoy it" perspective. Doug was trying so hard to make this hobby into a business, and it worked, but while doing so he had to alienate some of what made him start everything in the first place. That lisping piece of shit CEO was the one calling the shots and Doug has a cemented contract, potentially forcing him to play a role he lost passion for years ago. Likewise, Doug, his brother, and any other management had to basically cater to that CEO and his decisions... which usually meant burning bridges whenever his ego was crushed. It's a shame to think about today because of how everything started. Most of these people were doing these reviews/videos as a hobby before they started to make money off of it - so their passion was for the art itself rather than just monetary gain. Look at the first anniversary. It's cringe as fuck now, but you could tell they were legitimately having fun, because they were all there for the fun of it - rather than because there was money in it somewhere.
