I believe the board used to record Toys in the attic was a Spectrasonics. I confirmed that with Jay Messina many years ago but that info is also available on line as well. Doesn't take away anything from the Neve though. Those boards are top notch.

And for what it's worth, a note on Jay Messina.. the guy is old school street tough. But a great man. Have a few funny stories.

@@SpreadEagleBand First off, let me just state, "Open to the public" is one of my all time favorite albums. "Devil's road", "King of the dogs", "Revolution maker" are simply some of the best written songs I've ever heard. So I'm not trying to be objective just for the sake of being objective. Toys in the attic was recorded at the Record plant in Studios A and C. Two consoles were used for that recording. The spectronics and a Datamix console. That particular Datamix (I believe) was purchased from Electric Ladyland, as Jimi had originally purchased 2 of them when he built EL. With that said, I'd love to be wrong here. It would help learn some history that I may have overlooked.

@@SpreadEagleBand I hope I didn't take away from the fact that Subway to the stars came out really well. Sonically it is huge and possible mixed better than any other previous album. That is pretty easy to see why looking at some of the gear there in this video. I love that Teletronix LA2A. It's one of my favorite compressors/leveling amps. I use it on vocals a lot myself. Cheers to all Chuck Jones Boston, MA
