I rewatched the movie last week and I actually appreciate it more then I did back then. It is a good Superman movie. But not only that. The look of the movie the look of Metropolis and all the locations featured is very clean, modern and beautiful and still looks unique compared to all of the other Superman movies. The movie still holds up in my opinion and its still a beautiful and unique vision. Brandon was also excellent in the role.

Bryan couldn't use the potential of Brandon the same way he did with Hugh. Brandon career got ruined with this film. Tv did used his potential. He is indeed a great Superman and he proved it in cw crossover.

I still don't understand why was this movie a continuation of the original Superman movies instead of a reboot. I guess it's because of all the other versions of a Superman reboot (Burton, McG, Ratner) failed to get made. So they went back to the Donnerverse, because that worked. But even Bryan Singer years later acknowledged that that decision was a mistake, and that he should've done a reboot/origin story

Problem in going back to the Donnerverse that it made the film feel dated. Since the Christopher Reeve movies ended the comics changed, Lex Luthor was now a public rich figure who runs corporations who is a super villain behind the scenes and later Superman revealed his identity to Lois and got married, in Superman Returns Lex Luthor is a wacky guy who wants to do real estate schemes with kryptonite and Lois is in a relationship with someone else and still doesn't know Clark is Superman, which feels ancient it isn't where Superman is at.

I’m one of the few people who actually loved this movie. Sure could they have been more action ….absolutely. But I love the human side of it and the emotional conflict between Superman returning to earth after being away for a few years and trying to peace back his life along with coming to grips with his complicated love affair with Lois Lane. I thought Routh did a really good job as he embodied Christopher Reeve. I also love the fact that this was a love letter to the Richard Donner films. I didn’t care for man of steel or any of that darker nonsense. I really wish that Brandon got another opportunity to portray Superman in a sequel to this film and not just in the crossover that was on television. I thought he did a really good job.

Such a long video. So... I'm curious to know if it ever talks about how Brandon's close-up flying scenes were all REPLACED by a CGI Double... because he had trouble keeping his eyes open with all the air being blown in his face? The air was blown in his face because Brian Singer stupidly (in my opinion) decided that Superman's hair should move when he was flying (despite no other superman having hair that moved as dramatically as the Superman played by Brandon's hair did). Because every close up was a CGI double, Brandon's acting was eliminated... and the CGI's "acting" was substituted... a very poor substitute, since computers cannot duplicate a human actor's emotions on screen... especially not back in 2003. I read about all this in Cinefex magazine, and have felt that Brandon was robbed of getting to be Superman on screen in many key scenes.

Brandon was great but that's where it ends. It wasn't whimsical or awe-inspiring. The writing was so basic. The kid thing was eye rolling. I understood continuing the existing franchise but why this way? I'll never understand.

I like Brandon, but that hair, the suit, and last but not least: THE FUCKING SCRIPT! Sorry, I know the writers tried their best, they're probably good people, but.. the movie Itself is just boring. Has some great scenes, for sure. From time to time I rewatch some of the scenes, such as the airplane rescue and the "boy learning to fly" in the cornfields... When I saw this in the movie theater I was like "uhhh... almost! So close to being good..."
