IF YOU DID ADD VENTS WHERE WOULD YOU HAVE PUT THEM?

love your step by step explanation.

Really great collaboration! Itd be interesting to see you testing your hypothesis regarding the air effectively venting as flash. Maybe sealing the outside edge with wax or something to see if that makes something go wrong with the injection?

I was looking forward to part 2 of this collaboration. Great content! I am so happy The Crafsman introduced me to your channel. I've been enjoying watching your years of back content. Keep up the great work!

I hope the first shots with black streaks make it into the release. It'd be cool to get one after watching this episode.

With some modification to the mold, the Pocketnaut head would make a great Apple AirTag keychain holder.

Pretty cool stuff! Any suggestions on where to get the plastic pellets?

5:10 - wouldn't it be preferrable to rotate the faces so the inlet is in the same position around the circumfence of the face circle? 11:30 - If it wasn't streaked, would it be possible just to chop up the short shot and reuse the plastic from that? I know in this case that would make no sense because it's contaminated with the previous color. By the way, I really like the little tube you use to measure the plastic :) 16:58 - I'd love to see a thermal image of the gasses escape on the moulds! I know the gas won't show up on a thermal camera, but the edges of the mould where they meet it might show that it's getting hot as the plastic goes in and pushes out the air.

excellent work, right now I'm making my first mold, and I still don't know what diameter of the cross section to use (I'm going to make it 6mm) How do you calculate the minimum cross-sectional diameter before reaching the mold? Would 6mm be a lot? is a piece almost the same size as the body?

John - Just wanted to drop a comment saying thank you for putting out such consistent great pieces. These are so educational. I have learned so much about plastic design from your channel. Any books you would recommend for someone looking to build there plastic injection molding basics?

Do you make custom molds for anyone? I'd like a couple molds made of a prototype I have.

What is it? Is this useful in any way? Not trying to be mean just wondering if this has any utility because it’s pretty cool!

It's a little mascot novelty figure from an artist/maker. Not sure if it has a "use" but it would make a sweet l.e.d. flashlight

Excellent work. The mold needs an air vent.
@JohnSL Жыл бұрын
Why? That's one of the interesting thing about these desk-top machines. Because the clamping and injection forces are a low lower on these desktop machines, quite often you can get away without having air vents. He's done over 1,000 shots with this mold without air vents...

Brilliant! Would you ever consider reviewing a mold design for me for my Morgan Press so I can get some feedback on it? I have a Fusion File I can send over. Thank you!
