W'salaam Saiqua. For camera, I used an iPhone attached to a gimbal and external shotgun mic. There are a handful of water sport booths lines along Maafushi shores. You can book any one of them. The cost of 4 water sports (cheaper if you take the package) is around USD250.

Hi Ratna. Welcome to my channel! It's good to hear that my video is useful for your upcoming trip to the Maldives! As or the sim card issue, the mobile service provider from my country (Singapore) does not support auto roam in the Maldives. However, there is a small shop that sells local Maldivian Sim Cards in the vicinity of the airport. You would need to ask around the locals for the location of this shop. Even if your flight touches down Maldives late at night (mine touched down at almost 10pm), the shop will still be open and there are many airport officials on duty that could help you with the direction to the sim card shop. No worries, the locals are very friendly. There is also a musollah with separate rooms for gents and ladies in the airport. I hope I have answered your queries. Hi Hajwan. We paid USD250 for 2 pax. We left early in the morning and returned at the end of the day. While we’re at Centara, all food and drinks are on the house and we need not pay for anything else.

Hi Letícia Pena. Thank you for the compliment. Throughout my stay for 5 days and 4 nites there, I have opted for full board meal from Arena Beach Hotel. This means that my daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included in the package. However if you want to forego the full board meals from the hotel, you may also dine at the local diners serving both local and western foods. Payment will be either USD of Maldivian currency. A typical burger meal with fries and drinks will typically cost you around USD7-USD10. Pizza for 2 pax will cost you around USD15. Hope that helps. 😀

Hi Niros. Thank you for the compliment! The sand bank trip and 1st day of snorkeling came with the hotel package. I have made prior booking with my travel agency: Coral Holidays and they have pre-scheduled the activities for us. You can look them up from their FB page. I booked the one day resort trip at Maafushi Island itself. There are plenty of hotels around Maafushi where you could book the resort trip. Hope this info helps. Cheers!

Hi Nur. Actually, almost all of the the souvenir shops are similar in prices. However, you have to bargain/negotiate the prices of each single item that you wanna buy. They charge everything in USD there. But don’t underestimate the power of negotiation. You’d be surprised that in some souvenir shops, you will be able to purchase some souvenirs at almost half of the asking price. Happy shopping!

For watersports, there are an abundance of “counters” erected along the coast line of Maafushi Island. I chose a counter by the name of Maamuda Watersports. You may choose up to 4 water activities that will cost you USD250 for 2 pax. You might also want to try negotiating the price of the package at the counter. For me, I have selected the following water activities: 1. Kayaking 2. Jet Ski 3. Fun Tube Ride 4. Parasailing During the parasailing activity, we were in the air for approximately 20 minutes.

Other than the hotels, there are many other food outlets scattered around the island. Food prices are decent but then again it depends on where you dine. Of course restaurants are costlier. However, you could dine at normal local eateries and I can say that the food prices are quite decent. Hope you enjoy your stay! Happy holiday!

Hi Sara. I went to Stingray Beach Inn, located a couple of minutes away, to make bookings to the resort. Arena Beach hotel might or might not organize the visit to the resort but I think they could assist you in one way or another. Maafushi is a very small island. I think everyone knows everybody there and they would probably direct you to the appropriate organizer.

Did you face problem snorkeling because of your spectacles? I'm traveling soon and was worried if I'd be able to do any snorkeling??

Hi NG. Yes, I do faced problems when snorkeling with my spectacles on. What I did was to remove my specs everytime I wore the snorkeling equipments. Even though it is not the best solution for my shortsightedness, I could not find a better solution. Untill someone invent a snorkeling mask that allows wearing of the spectacles, we just have to put up with that. By the way, thank you for visiting my channel. Do let me know if you find any snorkeling equipments that could be worn over our spectacles. Until then, cheers!

Hi Acilo. I’ve kayaked at two locations. At Maafushi and also at the private resort - Centara. At Maafushi, a package of 4 water activities (kayak, Parasailing, jet ski and tube) cost USD150 (2 pax). However, kayaking at Centara resort is free as we have already paid USD250 (2 pax) for the Centara island trip.
