II believe that during Athulathmudalie's time, there was a duty-free complex at Kolpity. However, this complex failed and had to be abandoned due to the leakage of duty-free liquor into the liquor shops. Even with the existence of a duty-free complex at Katunayake Airport, duty-free liquor is still available in many liquor stores and illicit businesses. I don't understand the purpose of having a duty-free complex far away from the airport when there is already one at the airport. The minister should look into this matter immediately, One thing that should be looked into is the ownership, whether or not the licensees at Katutunayake have any interest in the Fort City complex. Another aspect that needs to be seen is whether goods sold are foreign or local. Unless timely intervention is made we may lose not only dollars but other currencies.

One entry per year. Only 2 litres of hard liquer allowed. Most bottles are 700ml. Hardly any other stuff. Not worth the visit. Make sure u buy from airtport before come here.
