I adore this song, and the stories my mom gave me about being around these people. EDIT: I just wanted to come back and thank you all for the love. Unfortunately, my mother passed away this past month. However, I was able to let her know how much love you guys were sending her way before she passed. Those snow scenes remind me of the snow storm in Chicago in '67. We had so much fun digging tunnels in the snow in the yard and jumping off of the garage roof, making angels in the streets because there was no traffic and no school. I definitely wasn't dreaming of CA back then. Snow was too much fun.

There is a picture buried somewhere in my collection of my dad out there shoveling snow. The path he made on the sidewalk was surrounded by piles of snow higher than his head and he was 5'11". It must have been exhausting. No snowblowers back then, at least I didn't know anyone who had one.

I was in grad school in Boston, Massachusetts, and this song was hard-wired in my brain. It told me I needed to return to California. I had never had roots, really. A great song. My first trip to California was the summer of 1983. I was lucky enough to travel the country playing freestyle frisbee for most of my twenties. At 2:09 that’s me. This was on that 1983 trip. My most recent trip was a couple of weeks ago to Santa Barbara CA where me and my partner were inducted into the frisbee freestyle hall of fame.

It was pointed out to me by other frisbee freestylers. Another clip from that day ended up in a movie called Hot Moves. It’s funny because I was a guy from Louisiana but guess I had a California look.
