The disappearing elephant trick was clearly done with mirrors. Houdini opened the box, what the audience thought they were seeing was the audience on the other side, but in fact, it was their own reflection. I'm guessing Houdini closed the box before the audience realized that.

5:30 probably by using the mirror trick, there are mirrors placed on both sides of the box, one already set in place and the other one falls into place once the elephant is in. So when the box is opened, it looks like both sides are opened and that they’re seeing the audience on the other side but they’re actually just looking at themselves. sorry if this is a sucky explanation, i just woke up lmao

I like to see an episode on Doctor James Barry, who held the equivalent medical rank of general in the British army during the Victorian era. He was at odds with Florence Nightingale and was once accused of homosexual relations with the governor of South Africa. After he died they discovered he was actually a woman but fooled the British army for decades.
