14:05 this was so powerful. i’m in highscool and one of my biggest fears since elementary school has been a school shooting. i have had a surprise lockdown drill in the hallway in middle school. people were screaming and running to the nearest classroom. i made it to a room with 2 other people and i texted my parents and best friend that i loved them when a teacher nonchalantly walked in and let me know it was a drill. that was the second time that week i had feared for my life at school since 2 days later we had a bomb threat. it is terrifying living in the united states and living as a student.

i stopped caring cause in my school, those bomb threats were made by students wanting to get out of tests or to waste the school day, which is also fucked up cause we wouldn't know if someone was actually being serious with how much this happened💀

Why the fuck do schools have surprise lockdown drills? My school had one of these a while ago and the teachers weren’t supposed to tell, but all of them did because they also thought it was stupid. Like, are they trying to speedrun giving their students lifelong trauma?

We gotta stop doing the suprise drills man I get it you want us to be prepared but we're here to learn not get yelled at about shit we know. Like, we know how to walk outside it's not that hard. Stop doing suprise lockdown drills, stop pretending they're serious and then telling us they're not, you're just ten times more annoying than thr kids who don't know how to shut the fuck up during a lockdown.

The fact that people who weren’t even there are forgiving him because he didn’t kill anyone is beyond me. Mind you he was charged of ATTEMPTED murder which means he TRIED to kill someone although he was unsuccessful thankfully. he still tried to kill someone and the fact that he even had a gun if the first place means that he most likely came with the intention to kill.

in my school someone had a gun in their back pack for protection because their neighborhood was/is dangerous, they never pulled it out or threatened someone with it but they got arrested at school. I don't know the full story since the teachers didn't tell us everything for the privacy of the student & prob legal reasons This dude here tho, he's clearly faking his remorse, the "i fired 2 shots up above the students head to scare them off" he enjoyed that people FEARED him. "And they run, and they run and they run" this mf is putting on a show for pity & to disturb. He needs to be banned, the ppl following and supporting him are WEIRD

this is my first time leaving a comment on a video, but last year my high school went into a lockdown. i sat in my biology classroom for 45 minutes with my crappy chromebook ready to swing or throw it at anyone who tries to enter the room. very luckily, there was no real threat and nobody got hurt, but i will never forget that day and i will never feel truly safe in my school, or any school, again. thank you for making this video and speaking out about how people are following, forgiving, and supporting this guy

I’m a new teacher, and it really messed me up when one of my colleagues walked me through the emergency buckets they keep in the classrooms, including things that could be used as makeshift weapons. He told me how to most effectively fight off an attacker, and it occurred to me that I live in a world where I had to take it seriously, because I might need to know. I was born in 2001, so I’ve only ever lived in a post-Columbine world, so it’s not like these were new fears. But thinking about what I would do if something happened while I was with this or that class, or how I would keep preschoolers quiet, or which classrooms would be most at risk? Yeah, that scares me much more than I even felt as a student after any one of the school shootings that happened while I was in school

I’ve never been in a school shooting, but when i was a freshman i was at a park and had another kid use a fake (but VERY REAL FEELING AT THE TIME) gun on me. I had no idea it was fake, so basically i understand very well the fear that is being threatened like that. this is why i have absolutely zero empathy or emotions towards school shooters. even if he didn’t kill people, he traumatized so many. i still am working through the trauma i faced. i would feel horrible if when the person who did that to me is off probation goes on tiktok and gets a following.

I used to go to school with a person who once threatened to shoot up my school (he never did, thank god) and one thing I noticed while watching this video is that he talks the same way Jon Romano does. They make themselves out to be victims and speak about subjects that they clearly don't understand or have no say in the matter to begin with (ex. the dude I went to school with said recently that schools should have transgender bathrooms so that "cis people aren't uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with a transgender." Yes, he refers to trans people as "transgenders.") The United States is wild.

I cried watching the video of the women condemning Jon Romeno, and I am absolutely disgusted about this man having a platform and being "forgiven" by his supporters. Thank you WURLD for discussing this touchy topic, and I realize now as a Canadian how much I take for granted the privilege to feel safe at my school and public spaces. Sending love to the victims of the Feb 9, 2004 school shooting and to all victims of school shootings.

last year, my senior year of highschool a kid brought a bunch of guns to school in his truck after threatening people. no one was hurt, he was stopped before he could get in. but the thought that that little sh*t head would one day try to flip the story to make himself the hero angers me to my core. hes normalizing and glorifying school violence. it is sadly very common for mentally teens to think about comitting acts of violence against their classmates, but to normalize it is insane if anyone reading this is thinking about hurting anyone, the thoughts alone dont make you a bad person, and i hope one day you get the help you need. reach out before you hurts others or yourself, please i beg you.

I genuinely hate this man I'm so glad he's getting cross-platform hate. That live he did with Aunt Karen is proof he clearly relishes the attention and praise. He sounds like a serial killer talking about his trophies. The only difference is unlike serial killers Jon can't aim. I guarantee you if he isn't completely driven off social media he's going to position himself a right wing commentator. He's going to get involved in politics. And the conservatives will eat it up because they'll get a chance to preach "forgiveness" (the kind of forgiveness they only give to white people) and say that mental health treatment is the solution to stopping mass shootings not gun control and reverse racism exists.

During that interview, he told the other person that they were 'disrapecting' him.... like... yeah??? You shot up a school???? Sorry, but anyone who actively chooses to shoot up a school then laughs about it later loses all respect from anyone with common sense🙄🙄 also, "his tragedy"?!?!?! What about the people who got hurt??? Or the people who were traumatized??? This isn't about him. it's about the people he made victims.

I was of the first generation who experienced school shooting drills, immediately *after* Columbine. And I have friends here in the UK who wonder why my generation is *so* traumatized - because we were the first. I look at it this way: a coward tries or takes people *with* them. If he really wanted to be seen, he'd have taken himself out, alone. But that's just my take, and what do I know 🤷‍♀️

After watching the video comment: I started crying at the private teacher's video because I have really been taking for granted my safety when finally having the freedom to walk to school. I have been taking for granted my luck that my schools for K-12 haven't been targeted while I was there. I remember back in the 5th grade when my teacher would sit us all down and talk to us and have us share our feelings about school shootings because there were some going on in our area at the time. I hope my parents never have to worry about dropping me off at school, at rehearsals, and wondering if it's the last time they saw me. Now I get why some more kids opt to stay in online school too. It's safer. This video was a great reminder of how lucky I am. Which, being alive shouldn't be something I should be lucky for, not being shot shouldn't be a lucky thing. It should be an automatic right for anyone and everyone. The fact that I have to say I'm lucky is crazy. I am lucky for not being a victim of this violence. I am lucky for not knowing anyone who is, on a personal level a victim. From the teachers, to the students, to the first responders who show up at the scene of an incident. None of this should even be a pattern in American schools in the first place. Rant over, thanks for the video. I'm going to go thank the teachers I know in my life for their amazing effort and their willingness to always protect their students.

I haven't exactly been in a school shooting, however in elementary school we had a lockdown (not a drill) because the was someone running from the cops near our school. The school didn't tell the teachers about what the lockdown was for so we didn't know if there was even an active shooter in the building or not. Even though there wasn't someone actively trying to get in, the fear was just as real. We were asking the teachers if we'd be ok and they said yes but we didnt really know, I could see the fear on there faces, too. as me and my 10-11 year old classmates all huddled under our teachers desks. Some cried, some hid there faces, some had panic attacks, and some of us just looked at eachother, at our friends, in the dark not speaking a word. No one could really get back to school work after that, and it messed with me for awhile. in middle school I heard on social media that there was a bomb threat at school, I cried and cried because it was the middle of the night and I didn't know if my parents would let me skip. I wrote a note abt it and put it under my pillow in case something happened to me. I was 12. Thankfully my parents did let me stay home and the school did not get bombed. Im in highschool now and I still fear going to school most days. Americas gun laws are fucked up. And honestly these experiences may not be my last dealing with shooter/bomb threats.

I personally did think that the intent was awareness for the clip around 7:40 BUT it is important to mention that I am constantly misunderstanding people's intents. Partially because I often struggle with tone unless it's extremely exaggerated (especially because my mood heavily affects how I interpret things). I like videos like this since it helps me sort out if I may be misinterpreting something before I form a more concrete opinion. I don't know how to explain it. As far as my current thoughts go the more of this video I see the more I can sort of see why awareness likely was not his intent. It is kinda sad that I need that much context to figure that out though. I feel like most people probably only need the one video to figure it out 😅
