Lycomedes was the king that gave Achilles shelter when his mother tried to hide him from his fate. He is known for having a school for girls and at the time Achilles was prepubescent. One of the big knocks I have on this game is that Achilles is too old. They should honestly de-age the model, also he's not the King of Phthia, he's the Prince. Peleus is alive and still the king of the region when Achilles leads the Myrmidons to Troy. Peleus stays behind because he is older and to ensure the province doesn't fall to disarray.
@PenTheMighty
@PenTheMighty 3 жыл бұрын
Also, while Achilles was under Lycomedes protection, he had to dress and behave as a girl to hide his identity. If I remember right, he knocks up one of Lycomedes' daughters while in hiding and has a son with her.
@9RealmsPublishing
@9RealmsPublishing 3 жыл бұрын
PenTheMighty correct. He was also discovered by Odysseus at the school. The son he had with Lycomedes’ daughter was named Neoptolemus or Pyrrhus (Achilles went by Pyrrha when at the school) and would be brought to Troy by Odysseus who gave the son Achilles’ armor (as he won it in Achilles’) funeral games. Neoptolemus has been both revered as a noble hero in things like the Odyssey and the play The Trojan Women, and demonized for his cruelty by other stories as he was the one who killed Priam and murdered Hectors, then toddler son by tossing him over the walls of Troy and took Andromache (Hectors wife) as a personal concubine.

I believe Achilles was only around 15 years old circa the start of the Trojan War. Which is fair enough, ancient armies recruited quite young, but Achilles' exploits do not lend themselves well to the picture of some girly looking teenager.

Might as well get rid of that extra general for now, and get the instant recruitment good troops in Achilles' army. And as far as which heroes do what, you might try reading the tooltip that pops up when you hover over their class and subclass (i.e. Fighter-Ravager); as to who'll be better, time and utilization will tell. But that tooltip should give you an idea of what the class will be capable of (at level one subclasses probably won't matter much).

Hello, mate. Happy to see you trying a TW game for my country. I'm happy to serve you as translator, as you the Europeans are not familiar with the Greek names, so don't hesitate to ask for my help in Discord. As Achilles, after crushing your current enemy, you should head to Thessaly (Thessalia, spelled Thes-sa-lί-a), so as to have an economic base, which provides a lot of resources to maintain your armies Thessalia should be the most rich region of all Greece, as it really is. The town to complete your region is called Pherae (Phe-rέ) and then you head for the other towns around there. Remember that you have to stockpile all the kind of resources, of which bronze is very important, as it is the primary resource for your armies. It seems that it is like the Vortex campaigns of WH 2, where you have to win on a final battle. I'll watch the series carefully, since I like it a lot. Thanks for the first episode of Hector. I don't know if I'll watch Odysseus on Twitch, but be sure to have comments on KZbin. Have a nice time.

There doesn't seem to be a "best god" to go for, it depends on the faction and your personal playstyle. rule of thumb seems to be go for the ones that buff you unique units or mechnics, for example Paris has his archers which combine well with Apollo, and Odysseus is basically vampire coast (cant really use non-port settlements) and thus pairs well with Poseidon.
@pranavjoshi4410
@pranavjoshi4410 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, however, Aphrodite is a great god to go for because she gives +1 happiness for each NA Pact which is great. For Achilles, I would also go for Athena for spear related buffs and Ares for sword and recruitment buffs. And if you want bows then you should go for Apollo for bow buffs, and if you want javelinmen, then you should go for Daddy Zeus for those buffs. So for Achilles, I would do Aphrodite, Athena, and Ares as a must, and then depend on who you want for your ranged buffs. Also, I feel that Poseiden should buff chariots as well since he's the father of horses. Might only be me, idk.

Perhaps for the ladders you don't have to spend time building them before a siege, but when setting up you can toggle units to have ladders or not. They have to carry them, and you can't just decide mid battle to have them. Just as a compromise between ppl who want to have to plan ahead, and ppl who prefer units having ladders automatically.

In terms of the battles I think CA have nailed the Bronze Age / Mycenaean tactics and formations quite well, since this was centuries before the hoplite phalanx, only elite soldiers e.g. Myrmidons etc would have the unit cohesion for real impact; everyone else would run around in chaotic melee trying to kill each other and steal the enemies weapons and armour!

Love the channel! I love the concept for the game aswell and the graphics are beautiful but im still really divisive on how i feel about OP generals. I can understand it in 3 kingdoms,The Warhammer's and this but if they are in the next historical title i probably wont buy it sadly. I want my battle strategy to actually matter without having the aid of a super character or vice versa with my enemy having some character that can distract a quarter of my army. Granted, i think this actually helps the Warhammers for obvious reasons

I'm a big fan of every total war game. I started playing Empire, have 2k hours on rome II, and over 2k hours on the warhammer series. I must say, I love the thematic music in the warhammer series, but it cant quite beat the suspenseful riffs ive heard on the combat music in Troy. Magnificent.

Most gorgeous UI in a TW game in a long time. Since Shogun 2. But honestly, i wish they pushed this a BIT more towards mythology. Have actual minotaurs and cyclops units. Make the game a 50 / 50 split between history and mythology (warhammer of the real world). I feel they're a bit too cautious, trying to please both camps with this game. It just makes it feel... Not historical enough for the history buffs. And not mystical enough for the setting and mythology.

You can actually recruit minotaurs, Gryphons, Hydras and other mythical creatures by performing rituals for the gods and gaining their favor. Though, to be fair, not a lot of mythical creatures (other than gods) in the Illiad.

Cadmean comes from Cadmus the first king, and founder, of Thebes. His men and he slew a giant serpent (as an aside it was sacred to Ares) with only Cadmus surviving. This later doomed him as he had to serve Ares for years before being turned into a snake with his wife.
