In Russia rulers govern through _Rule by Law_ instead of _Rule of Law_ _Rule by law_ refers to a situation where laws are used as a tool to control or manipulate society. It suggests that those in power can bend or manipulate laws to their advantage, without being held accountable. This approach often leads to abuse of power, discrimination, and a lack of transparency. _Rule of law_ on the other hand, is a fundamental principle of modern governance that emphasizes the importance of impartial and consistent application of laws. It ensures that everyone, including those in power, is subject to the law. This concept is crucial for maintaining justice, order, and individual liberty.

And the latter is what a police force is meant to do however Roman said that his left wing views make him personally not much of a fan of the police. This is despite the fact that being supportive of the police isn’t an inherently left and right wing position. Anyone who says they’re not much of a fan of a police has to explain how they’d maintain order in a society without some kind of group tasked - whether voluntarily or as a paying job - with maintaining the law and having a monopoly on violence, and which doesn’t lead to mob rule.

And this is why art is important! This is why art is one of the first things in civil society that gets suppressed right after courts and the media when oppression takes hold. Real artists and good art are a form of pressure. Btw. this is a good way to separate real art from sell outs and 98% of state stabilising journalism from investigative journalism. Good art is an invisible force driving civil society to a point of discourse. It sacrifices itself out of pure will and indures the suffering from state power and society. Real artists are called perverse, sick etc. but this is just why we need these brave few. Next time you look at an artist and shy away from disgust or hatred just stop for a minute and put all your ideological dogmas on the side. Ruling ideology is invisible for almost everyone and every rebellion against it will garner a harsh personal emotional response. Art is the starting point and the freedom of artistic creativity and the resulting creation has to be defended at every moment. We don't know how we will look back at a moment 10 years ago even but we might appreciate the one guy at the table who just can't help him or herself to talk what we all think.
@RobespierreThePoof9 ай бұрын
That's certainly one thing the arts do. But ... The relationship between art and culture is a great deal more complicated and branded nuanced than that. Explicitly political art may actually be less effective and influential than implicitly political works, for example.

This "not interfereing with the regulars" reminds me of a demonstration I participated in during my neo-nazi days. Which is a subset of ppl not particularly enjoyed in my country. But, we've got the freedoms to allow even them to go on the street and air their grievances. So, they allowed us to do it on a sunday, on a route that for like 80% of it went through a commercial district. We protested in front of empty buildings, pretty much. Though we hat the big speech in front of the train station. And it went about as well as you can imagine in the birthplace of Marx where you can find "Das Kapital" on pretty much every nightstand. Not comparing it to the total situation in Russia, ofc, but I think getting "unpopular opinions" out of the public eye is something many governments have in common. You guys have my deepest sympathies, your government is taking you down a road I only know from the history books, it didn't end too well for us.

He travels in secret (when he travels at all) and is completely isolated except for a close inner circle. He has no access to the internet and cannot operate a smart phone or computer. The coms people he travels with are there to make sure he has access to one media outlet ..Russian TV...so - government produced propaganda. He lives in a bubble of self produced nonsense. He has no concept of the actual losses his military is suffering. He knows only what those around him choose to tell him and what the propaganda networks (handed down by the same people) put out on a daily basis. He is the ouroburos: The snake eating it's own tail. When he does speak publicly, he reveals his ignorance with every proclamation. Just last week, he told a group of press that the Orcs had repelled the Ukrainians along the Dnipro, killing thousands while only suffering a few wounded... When video evidence from the west shows that in fact, thousands of Ors have been eliminated there..with the loss of hundreds of pieces of Orc artillery and APC's. Not that he would act any differently if he did know...because he has trapped himself into this horrible conflict with no way out. Everyone should keep that in mind when he utters some nonsensical bs about the current state of affairs in Russia. Pootin himself probably knows less of reality than the average babushka wandering the streets of Moscow. You know, the old women breaking their knockoff Ipads and burning US currency while living on the equivalent of $30 US a month..

These broadcasts of Putin should be showed around much more often. That’s the real man. Brittle. Insecure.

Honestly, being in the West I doubt it's any coincidence that I haven't heard of someone like Yuri and only recently heard of Boris Nemetsov, being people that speak out against Vladolf but know of a whole plethora of people that subscribe to his cult of personality.

It doesn't mean if you found out about some fact from the Wiki that you now understand everything. Nemtsov was pro Putin for quite a while then switched camps and then was sacrifised by the West through Ukraine (they planned to take out someone from opposition either Nemtsov, Sobchuk or Venediktov). He was with Ukrainian prostitute and allegedly Chechens took him out. Chechen so called opposition resided in Ukraine.

If only more people would dare to challenge Putin like that, he would surely lose his smug facade and show his true self.

Good to keep focus on where it should be. Many bloggers are losing focus and talking about US politics - not their areas of expertise. Glory to Ukraine.

Maybe because they think there was some kind of Russian interference in US politics and US media?
