Halibut is actually very expensive . Especially for fish and chips . That would be a very expensive fish and chips meal . It is really good though . I’d go with haddock. It’s similar in texture and flavour and while it’s not as cheap as other fish , it’s probably half the price of halibut.

I don’t live anywhere close to an ocean . If I’m paying for halibut , I don’t want it covered in batter and deep fried . Haddock is not as good as halibut but it’s better than cod. It’s in the middle of both quality and price and that’s why it is perfect for a good fish and chips meal.
@princeofpcos9804

@@user-zt1ym7zc7p halibut is one of the more meaty and dense fish out there. The average haddock or cod filet is so small you have no choice but to end up with half fish and half batter. You can get a much larger chunk out of a halibut. If you order halibut fish n chips and it is half batter you need to find a better restaurant.

I guess it is expensive… but it’s certainly not that much more expensive than any other fish and chip options in Vancouver. At post good shops (Pajo’s, The Fish Counter, Go Fish) it’s only maybe $2 more. Keep in mind that our local fish are pretty prized exports (including salmon) so a lot of cheaper fish has to imported meaning that the price difference isn’t quite that high.

For the average consumer that shops at the local grocery store, no it's not more affordable. But for this fish and chip shop that can buy their halibut fresh from the fishermen at the harbour then it probably is cheaper compared to the frozen cod or haddock that has to be shipped 5000km across Canada from the east coast fish suppliers.

If you look at a map, you will see that the coast mountains border Vancouver on the north west, north, north east and easterly side of the greater Vancouver area. A delta plain the was developed by the easterly entrance of the Fraser River into the delta flood plain. I find the easterly mountains when I drive east to Hope. 0:03 Yeah, it's one of the most livable cities in the world if you have a lot of money. Suggesting it is livable for anyone lower middle class or under, is a straight up lie. I live in Vancouver, and have my entire life. It might be a pretty city. It might have good infrastructure for walking and biking, but it is not livable for poor people. Stop lying. Vancouver's city motto: " If you have money you are allowed to live here. If you don't, we would prefer if you didn't."

1. Halibut is NOT cheap and plentiful in Vancouver. It is incredibly expensive and reserved for special occasions, unless you're rich. Locals almost invariably choose cod or rockfish. 2. Anyone who puts mayonnaise in a taco is destined for hell. 3. Pajo's sucks harder than a Miele. Any fan of good fish 'n' chips, as found in the UK or Australia will be bitterly disappointed in Vancouver. This city has some of the best seafood in the world and absolutely no idea how to cook it. Only Cockney Kings comes close to the standard of a UK chippie. Sushi though? We're all over that shit.
