Great episode with Mr. Barron, love to hear about the early "analog" years and how R & T was built every month. I was a devoted reader, starting in the mid-70's in my teens, and it was THEE leading car magazine for me - not the only one, but certainly King of the Newsstand. Listening makes me want to go downstairs and thumb through some of my collection! Thanks all, JF

I acquired my 1971 911T & after noticing the Moffett Field Naval Air Station sticker on the windshield dating back to 1979. My grandfather was based there from 1978-1982! He asked me if I had information on the original owner who had the car for over 45 years. After I told him who it was, he told me that he worked with him at the base! My grandfather was a C130 crew chief & the original owner was one of the C130 pilots! He had his info & got in touch with him. They reminisced on their days in the military together & it was a cool moment for my family seeing the connection this car has with our family.

Just an fyi. People call alot of ruf cars yellowbird but you obviously realize there os only 1 yellowbird which is still driven and used to this day but all other ctr's are not yellowbirds. Ive been a ruf fanatic since 1984. They are the best sportscar builders in the world. Thank you for such a brilliant name!!! Cheers

In the office, Damon is a stickler on this. The RUF CTR was what the production model was called. It did not have NACA ducts on the rear fenders like the prototype did. The prototype was also a CTR, but it is indeed the only one to have officially received the “Yellowbird” nickname. Though we wouldn’t be surprised (and fully support) if owners and enthusiasts refer to any CTR as a Yellowbird :)
