Maldivian here. I feel goosebumps to listen. Thanks brother. But let me correct few things: Sultan Hassan IX who converted to Christianity did not stay in the Maldives during Portuguese rule. The Portuguese rather than giving him power, made him live in Goa. It was the person what we call Andiri Andirin (said to be Andrea Andrews, a Portuguese) that ruled on behalf of Portuguese empire. As the story goes, a bullet from Muhammad Thakurufaanu hit him, and that's how Portuguese were defeated. Alhamdulillah.

A Laccadivian islander here. Known as Lakshadweep islands now.. yes we are 100 percent muslim population and lay just north of maldives in arabian sea near Kerala coast. I had heard the stories of Portuguese invasion of my home island and how they tried to convert us but we denied them. They had killed the mutawalli of Juma masjid of Kalpeni island inside the masjid and still his Qabr is there and it's inside the masjid( he is a forefather of mine from paternal side). In Amini islands the Qazi Aboobaker led the fight and he was martyred. Portugues plundered the Chetlat island in revenge. But they couldn't colonise us as we kept fighting and had help from the famous muslim sailor warriors of Malabar Kerala under Kunjali Marakkar ( they were 4 in number) . Finally had to leave the islands and Malabar coast completely and packed to Goa. May Allah reward the Martyrs and mujahideen so that we are not converted and lost our deen like they did in Andalus and Goa. U can make an episode on Kunjali Marakkar and refer tuhfathul mujahideen

Marakkar was from an Arab from a Gulf tribe, he & Arab men formed a group of fighters with people from kerala and fought the Portuguese (they got petrol from the gulf people to burn Portuguese ships, got Arabic ships too) unfortunately Kerala Hindu king asked him to leave and he went to continue the fight in goa or gujarat where the Hindu king captured him and gave him to Portuguese to kill him. There are many Arabic literature about those fighters

The Portuguese came to attack Maldives many times. Hassan IX went to Goa and as he became a Christian, Maldivians appointed a new king (King Ali). The Portuguese martyred Ali and took over. But actually they attacked many times before they were able to take over. The way the islands were formed was an obstacle for them to enter and got shipwrecked many times, and they won because some Maldivians betrayed and helped them. But the Portuguse killed them as well.
