It's one of those things where I don't think that Miro actually got that much worse, other Winstons just got better. It's a similar situation as taimou. Two years ago taimou was the only person people thought about when it came to Widowmaker. Now there are just other really good widowmaker players out there and taimou looks worse in comparison. Now I'm not saying that Miro didn't have a downfall, cause he did; but this is just one thing to consider

SOMEONE FINALLY MADE A GOOD TRIBUTE VIDEO FOR THE OG WINSTON. Miro might not be up there anymore, but he will always be THE Winston.
@Dividingby06 жыл бұрын
Just want to clarify something real quick. I'm not going to be doing very many more of these player biography things if any more at all because most OWL players are either just starting their careers or are at the height of it. I don't want to make a video about a story that obviously isn't over yet and end these vids with "and they're still playing today!" Miro, even if he isn't done in pro overwatch, has at least come to a good stopping point with the whole leaving Lunatic Hai thing and seems to be on the decline. Plus like I said I feel like his impact on the game is somewhat underappreciated. However, I really do appreciate all of your support and kind words on this video. I had a lot of fun making it and I hope you had fun watching it!

Hi, I really did appreciate the video and had a fun time watching it, but I feel like there were a lot of things you missed or just got wrong: For one, Miro wasn’t really just a main tank at the start of his career, he was also known for his d.va play and would often play subtank while Dean, another player on Lunatic Hai at the time, would often play rein. After Dean was basically forced to leave the team after news came out that he was soliciting nudes from his fans (I think?) Miro became the defacto main tank of Lunatic Hai going into Apex season 2 which was very helpful for them because of how dive would become the default meta by the Semi finals with changes to d.va’s defense matrix, and nerfs to Ana if I’m not mistaken? During Apex season 3, it was becoming evident that Miro wasn’t really the top Winston anymore, players like Mano and Fissure had improved upon the foundation that Miro had built and looked like the better players, there’s a reason why Mano was chosen over Miro for Team South Korea for the OWWC 2017. Miro’s way of playing the character was becoming more and more dated as time went on, due to both meta changes and to people figuring out how to play against him. By Apex season 4 his Winston was not looking nearly as good as it used to and the weakness of his style was best highlighted by GC Busan in the quarterfinal matches, where Miro looked to be feeding for most of the two matches. Miro was one of the weak points of the team by the end of Apex along with leetaejun who was often subbing in for Esca. You say in the video that Miro’s style of Winston play was mainly killed by the introduction of Brigitte, but it was already a dated way of playing the character for almost an entire year, it just wasn’t as effective as teams become more coordinated and as people started to see the weaknesses of his style. A random side note, linkzr played rein during the OWWC 2016 for Finland but he wasn’t actually a rein player, he just had to flex onto the hero because Team Finland didn’t have a main tank on their team. He was a dps player for Creation Esports or Digintas at the time, mostly known for the hero’s he’s still most known for, Genji, McCree, and Widow.
@Dividingby06 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Making these videos is tough for me because I was introduced to professional overwatch with OWL and have had to teach myself everything. I try to do research to make up for it but obviously a few things fell through the cracks. Someone on reddit already told me about Dean and the fact that Miro was more of an off tank at the start, which i had no idea about. I hope the mistakes are forgivable and im glad theres people like you to call me out when I get things wrong.
@toitd52586 жыл бұрын
Miro was still considered the best Winston until OWWC 2017 happened, and there were concerns about Mano being selected for OWWC 2017 instead of Miro, and people eventually convinced themselves that Mano was selected because he was more versatile, not because he had a better Winston.

i love miro. when i was first getting into improving my play back in season 3, i wanted to find a player that i thought would be a great example of one of the heroes i wanted to play, and modeled my play after them. i main tracer and genji at the time, and so i modeled those two after Soon and Shadowburn. (btw i know this is off topic but soon is still one of the best tracers in the league he’s hella underrated rn) i decided i needed to learn how to play a tank, and reinhardt just seemed so one dimensional and boring for me. around that time was the overwatch world cup. i first saw miro and he was basically throwing opposing players through a loop on winston, and i decided to use him as my paradigm. i watched and rewatched tons of lunatic hai games just to study him and his decision making, and i improved IMMENSELY on winston. i started in silver and made my way from there to mid plat playing just winston and tracer. i considered miro to be the best winston in the world hands down. and i’m gonna miss him in the OWL. I hope he takes his time off to go hard af and practice to get back to the top where he belongs.
@Stelo296 жыл бұрын
Could be my story. I also started playing Winston in Season 3 (because I wanted to learn a maon tank. Had no fun in playing Reinhart). I also noticed Miro at the world cup and started to watch a lot of Apex, especially, LunaticHai. With mainly Tracer and Winston I climbed from gold into diamond. It was an awesome time. Pure dive meta was at it's peak. Gonna miss the dude. Good luck Miro, wherever you go.

I still thinking Miro is the best winston (mechanically) and no one can beat him at that. But the thing is that he didnt adapt to these metas, he didnt change his agressive playstyle, the playstyle that takes down the enemy dps in every spot, plus dva matrix is nerfed, all of that punished him in every jump. And his rein never was that impressive. Anyways, he's my fav player and he will always be my fav player, im main tank and i learned all i know thanks to him. He's the reason why i supported Lunatic hai, and he's the reason why i still supporting Seoul Dynasty, even if he's not in the team anymore, i got a lot of emotions with them. At the point where you're talking about SK esports, you show "An Esports stadium" with a picture of the 2014 League of Legends World championship final, which was held not in a dedicated esports stadium, but in the Seoul World Cup stadium, built for football and multipurpose sporting events. Its a little misleading, and the same event has been held in places like the Staples Center, Madison Square Garden, the Bird's Nest. Its not cause eSports is huge in KR (that factors in to it) but its due to the sheer size of LoL.

I used to be able to carry pretty easy into low masters on tracer... they nerfed so much shit when they added brig... lowering the skillcap of the game was the last thing they needed to do..

I know you said that you wouldn't do many if any more of these but I just wanted to throw some ideas just in case. Seagull and mendokusai, seagull officially retired and mendokusai has been set to a stream personality. Both had insane influence in early Western overwatch

"What is your favourite Wincone play ever?" *I PREDICTED THAT! I THOUGHT ABOUT IT TOO*

Still happy I bought a Miro Dynasty jersey even though he fell off. He turned me on to Winston like every other Winston main

I think a video on Seagull is in order, now that he is a retired bird.

It's like the horse being finally beaten out by cars; what's natural is eventually beaten out by hard analysis. The Ferrari F1 beaten by the Veyron, the bow and arrow by the gun, nothing stops other people from scrutinising and upgrading, improving. Miro couldn't keep up because so much of his playstyle depends on his instinct, and that sucks. He's falling behind.

He might make a comeback now that main tanks are far more powerful and influential on the game in this meta

I want him to comeback. He left Seoul at such a low point in his career.

This man is why I play Main tank, because of him and Zumba.
