Mayfield started the conversation because he wanted the officer to know why he killed him, that it was revenge for all his fallen comrades.

I don’t know if Mayfield actually planned to kill him, I think he just couldn’t resist an opportunity to confront him, and then he saw that he was even more evil than he thought.

Phenomenal acting by Bill Burr in this episode. He famously had a comedic routine where he made fun of Star wars fans so it's hilarious that he was cast in a star wars project and that he did so well 😂

I know everyone loves the next episode, and with good reason, but this is actually my favorite episode. I love when Star Wars gets philosophical, and both of Mayfields monologues are outstanding. Also Pedro’s acting without his helmet is phenomenal. The expression on his face conveys so much. The way that he’s not used to being without his helmet and how incredibly uncomfortable he is. He really looks completely naked without it.

Same here, for me they redeem Mayfield... I was confuse about his character at first, but this episode make me love him... really well done by the actor. Mando with the sacrifice of his religious side to save HIS child. Top 3 episode for me.

Those guys weren’t pirates though. They were trying to destroy the rhydonium not steal it. Probably just trying to do something noble and stop the empire from having more weapons.

Mayfeld said better to sleep at night not because he killed that guy but by blowing up the rhydonium Mayfeld helped prevent the mass destruction in other planets that the Empire wants to invade or destroy.

Boba Fett's ship (Slave I) is the very same originally owned by his father Jango as seen in the events of 'Attack of the Clones.' During their escape from Obi-Wan Kenobi, the ship deploys the iconic seismic charge, just as they did in that episode... fan service, satisfied.

3:34 Boba Fett just gave his armor a fresh coat of paint to look like it did when he inherited it from his father. Jango had it painted blue. 17:21 also by blowing up the rhydonium that he helped deliver he’s not apart of helping the empire create a weapon that will hurt others. Mayfield also showed a lot of character growth in this episode and showed that he no longer had anything to do with the empire. Also the respect he showed Mando by saying I didn’t see your face.

This episode is amongst the few times you're happy to see Imperial Stormtroopers. Operation: Cinder comes from the campaign from Battlefront II. It was part of Palpatine's Contingency, which went into effect after his death. To Palpatine, the Empire was only to be ruled by him and so if he died, the Empire was not worthy to continue. Operation: Cinder was the use of weather-altering satellites to devastate planets across the galaxy, even worlds loyal to the Empire, to cause as much chaos as possible. It caused a second wave of defections, meaning anyone who remained with the Empire after both the destruction of Alderaan and Operation: Cinder were pure fanatics.

You’ve seen Rhydonium before. It was the explosive Sabine and Hera used in rebels to take out those creatures on the base when the phantom was stranded and they had to wait for rescue. It was also the explosive the separatists loaded that republic Star destroyer with to use as a kamikaze bomb to try to take out the old republic conference during the clone wars. The seismic charge slave 1 (Boba’s ship) used to take out the tie fighters was in the movie Star Wars episode 2 attack of the clones. Jango Fett and Boba Fett used them against Kenobi in the asteroid field over geonosis.

The seismic charge, the bomb that Boba Fett's ship Slave 1 dropped on the TIE Fighters was first shown in the movie Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, which you did react to. In the movie, Boba's father, Jango Fett, while piloting the same ship, used the bomb few times on Obi-Wan Kenobi's Starfighter during their dog fight in space.

So a little (actually a very long) explanation I love giving (which by this point I should have ready for copy-pasting, but don't) about Mandalorians and their rules: To begin, while they were once a unified people, many civil wars throughout Mandalorian history (but especially in the last century) have broken them into many factions. In pre-modern times, Mandalorians were savage raiders and bandits. FAR from the relatively upstanding, honorable warriors they became in modern times. *60 BBY - The "True Mandalorians" Civil War* The first splintering of Mandalorian society. After thousands of years of being a race of savages, raiders, and brigands, the Mandalorian people had moved away from their violent past and towards a more pacifist mindset. But then Mand'alor Jaster Mereel proposed a new set of traditions called the "Supercommando Codex," which would reinforce their old traditions, but in a way that would make the Mandalorians an honorable race of warriors and mercenaries. This would spark the first major civil war. The factions of this conflict were Jaster Mereel's "True Mandalorians" (among which was Jango Fett, who had received his armor from Mereel) and Tor Vizsla's "Death Watch." After a fairly even back-and-forth, Tor Vizsla pulled a SERIOUSLY dirty move, contacting the Jedi Order and claiming that Mereel's faction was murdering civilians in retaliation for losing the war. So the Order sent a group of Jedi Knights led by Dooku. The end result was basically everyone dying except Jango Fett, Tor Vizsla and some supporters, and Dooku. The final battle of the conflict, in which Jango Fett killed all the Jedi but Dooku, is what earned the Mandalorians their "Jedi killer" reputation. - Jango Fett (who had briefly led the True Mandalorians as the new Mand'alor) was captured, his armor stolen (which was originally colored similar to how it was as Boba's), and himself sold into slavery. He eventually escaped, reclaimed his now-silver-and-blue armor, and became a bounty hunter, treating it as a type of exile. - Tor Vizsla was eventually tracked down and killed by Jango Fett in 42 BBY, shortly after he reclaimed his armor. *Between 44 BBY and 32 BBY - The Great Clan Wars* Following the annihilation of the "True Mandalorians" and splintering of Death Watch, Mandalorian clans began to fight amongst themselves, and in the chaos, the "New Mandalorians" rose to power under Duchess Satine Kryze, with the Jedi Order serving as her protection for a time. Meanwhile the remnants of Tor Vizsla's Death Watch gathered under Pre Vizsla to oppose the New Mandalorian faction. The New Mandalorians were eventually able to convince most of the leaders of her beliefs and stop the fighting. - This is where Obi-Wan and Satine met. *19 BBY - Clone Wars Era Civil War and the Siege of Mandalore* This conflict is easily the most complex of all of them. It happened in multiple "phases" with factions being destroyed, created, or switching sides between each one. Additionally, these events were adapted quite far apart, despite happening within a span of days in-universe. The Civil War part was shown in The Clone Wars Season 5 Episode 16 (which aired in 2013), and the Siege of Mandalore part was shown in The Clone Wars Season 7 Episodes 9 and 10 (which aired in 2020). The Civil War The Shadow Collective (a new faction led by Maul as an alliance between his new Sith Order, Death Watch, and various other criminal organizations) launches an assault on the New Mandalorians' leadership to depose Duchess Satine Kryze and seize control of Mandalore. Satine had managed to send Obi-Wan a message, asking for his help. After successfully deposing the New Mandalorians, Maul would betray Pre Vizsla, challenging him to single combat for the Darksaber and title of Mand'alor. Maul's victory again divided the Mandalorians, splitting them into those who remained loyal to him as the new Mand'alor, and those who rejected a non-Mandalorian being the Mand'alor. However, Maul's victory would be short-lived, as Darth Sidious would quickly learn of Maul's plans and personally come to put him in his place and imprison Maul in the Citadel (the Jedi's secret prison; see the "Star Wars: Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir comic"), though he would be freed by his Supercommandos soon after. The Siege of Mandalore Learning of Maul's control of Mandalore, the Jedi Order dispatched the 332nd Division (a detachment of Anakin's 501st Legion) under the command of Rex (whom Anakin had battlefield-promoted to Commander) and Ahsoka Tano (who was officially just an "Advisor" but effectively acted as General to Rex) to apprehend Maul. After locating Maul, Ahsoka, with the help of the 332nd, engaged and captured Maul. And again... a victory short-lived. Shortly after departing Mandalore, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine would issue Order 66, causing all the clones aboard the Tribunal to betray Ahsoka, and Rex once he was freed of Order 66's control. Ahsoka, Rex, and Maul escaped. The Clones still on Mandalore, now part of the new Galactic Empire, would occupy Mandalore instead of helping the New Mandalorians regain control. *2 BBY to 1 BBY - Imperial Era Civil War* Shown in Star Wars: Rebels Season 3 Episode 16. Following the Republic-turned-Empire occupying Mandalore, various clans chose to side with the Empire and help them control the planet, effectively placing Mandalore under the Empire's control. Clan Saxon was the Empire's primary representative and majority supporter. When Sabine Wren returned with the Darksaber, she soon defeated Gar Saxon and claimed rightful ownership of it, before handing it to Bo-Katan Kryze, who unified the Mandalorian people against the Empire into a Mandalorian Resistance and drove the Empire off of Mandalore. The Empire would eventually retaliate by bombing Mandalore into ruins (the Great Purge of Mandalore) at some point between 1 ABY and 9 ABY.

Well, a lot of time, the Mandalorian isn't played by Pedro Pascal. Brendan Wayne, grandson of Western movie legend John Wayne, is playing him as well. In the beginning, Pascal actually was just the voice actor. But he demanded screen time to be also "the" actor.

It made you see the perspective from the other side and also redeemed Mayfeld. Bill Burr did a fantastic job. 😅 What was that?? That was a seismic charge. One of the many weapons used by Slave-1. If you didn't recognize the sound of the seismic charge, maybe you should rewatch episode 2. Asteroide field scene. This episode is so good on so many levels. Even if so many forgets it because of next episode. When a masterpiece follows a good episode, the good episode is just forgotten. The comment of: "I never saw your face" just says sooo much. He knew what keeping his face hidden means to Din. He knows what he sacrificed to save Grogu. He sacrificed everything. Even his own belief and religion. And Mayfield killed everyone that ever saw his face. There is only 1 person so far that has ever seen Din's face. And he will take that secret to his grave. (reason I type it this way is because you said you are 4 weeks ahead on patreon). Can't wait for next episode!

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I think Pedro Pascal's just not a good actor. I mean, for most of the series its several very good stuntmen in the suit being filmed and Pedro doing voiceovers later, right? He doesn't seem to have a lot of range and his mode seems to be "one facial expression fits all". He's basically a budget version of Nathan Fillion's looks without much at all in the way of acting skills. I'm willing to accept it if there are other things that he actually acts and does well in, but in the few things I've seen him in I've seen nothing better than what I did in high school drama productions, and I'm well aware of my shortcomings as an actor. 😀 Bill Burr, on the other hand, did a great job acting in this piece. The way he couldn't help but call out a man who butchered not just his whole division, but a whole city? This was a showdown that was a long time coming for Mayfeld, and though we kinda wished he hadn't done it, we absolutely understood why he did. And that look on his face. He wanted Hess to say something, anything, that showed maybe an iota of understanding of what he had done or a smidgen of regret for it. And when he didn't get it, well, like the old saying goes, "There's only one solution for the irredeemable." Actually, what helps Mayfeld sleep better is destroying the facility that kept the Empire on this planet. They could tolerate some pirates blowing up some transports of rhydonium, but with the facility destroyed, there's maybe no reason anymore for them to stay and the people may get their planet back. Looking forward to the finale!
