I suppose a little on the silly side but I'll watch it any day over the hideous stuff spewing forth from Hollywood these years. Thank you for posting.

Very good EQ movie, Eddie Quillan is great as EQ, Good Quality.

Eddie Quillan was quite a character. In later years he was in three Perry Mason episodes. Raymond Burr took care of his "family".

The world's most valuable stamp. Worth $50,000 . And yet she just keeps it in a small paper envelope in her purse. Then she takes it out so casually to show it to a ship's officer! She should've taken more precautions to protect such a fragile, valuable piece of paper!

Crazy setup! Just asking for trouble!
@drhyshek Жыл бұрын
It’s even more outrageous because $50,000 in today’s value is $1,070,902.88. She not only showed it to him, she handed it to him! Just like waving a million dollars around. And she calls it a stupid stamp.

Because just entertainment is what sold and was in demand in those days, not like today when there is a lot of gore and everyone is walking around with their tits and pipis hanging out. According to today's fucked up society, that's what brings in the money along with computer shit and drugs!

it is a shame they dont try to make a detective movie these days without gore, sex and violence...i think they could be in for a pleasant surprise

At 11:23. Upon being informed of a possible theft in his hotel, the manager's FIRST reaction is to say " Get the Police!" But in reality, calling in the police would be a manager's nightmare and so is really the LAST thing he would do.
@robynperdieu3434 Жыл бұрын
I've worked in a motel and had to call the police because a naked man was at the front desk asking for help. I thought he was having a heart attack he had such a spacy look about him. He wouldn't respond to questions, so I called the local police, told them of the situation. Local police, state police, and sheriff all showed up. He was high on meth, apparently.

Dizzy dame leaves priceless item right out where a toddler could find it. I love mysteries, murder stories & noir. But, the premise of naivete necessary to get some of them started feels like I’ve had a flat and have to stop and change a tire before I can enjoy the rest of the journey. 😖

Of course, this stamp is bogus. Of those Chinese stamps considered rare & valuable, the "Red Stamp of 1969" was tops, a plate block of four selling for 1,086,000 after it's issue in 1969. It depicted Mao Tse-tung (Wade Giles) and his henchman, Lin Biao, who fell from favor and "mysteriously died" in a plane crash.

LOVE THESE BLACK & WHITE MOVIES!!! So original and fresh nothing like the trash being made nowadays. Everything is recycled or blood & gore or sex over the top. These are family viewing movies.

News Note: In this Film Ellery Queen is much smaller than His Father , However in the 1970s TV Series The Son played by Jim Hutton was MUCH Taller than the Father played by David Wayne, NOW GO FIGURE THAT !!

Good b&w movie, not complicated. Good character actors. Eddie Quillan, while a good actor, was not good as Ellery Queen. He wasn't awful but just not a good fit for the part. Still worth watching though.
