A tremendous live performance of "Boy From New York City" by The Manhattan Transfer, appearing on ABC TV's late night comedy show "Fridays". The group is introduced by Fridays cast member, Larry David, as he plays the character of Howard Cosell.

I heard this song on 107.9 FM CJNU radio earlier this morning for the first time in quite a while & here I used to think this group were black singers. Oh how so very wrong I was after all these years. I probably seen them on TV years ago, but I just can't remember. The main singer is so georgeous as is the back up singer as well & I know there's an older version of this song & both are good, but the lead singing lady on this group is something else. This is the 1st time seeing them on KZbin.

"Hay, that was the height of fashion in the 80's. LOL!" It was - that was urban, retro Manhattan hip - people used to shop old clothing stores looking for vintage 50's clothes, satin jackets were a thing too, and bowling shirts - I remember those unlined jackets and skinny ties guys wore ( same style the guys with Blondie wore on album covers ) - I can remember Upper East Side parties with dozens and dozens of guys wearing those jackets, turning the lapels up was a thing
