They were very versatile. Nobody comes near to the sound they make together. LA Sounds, a group, made a tribute album to them in the early 80s and it was putrid/terrible! Not a patch on MT. That is when I realised just how good the 4 of them were together. There really is no comparison. I always prefer their version of a song to anybody elses.

This is one of my favorite groups of all time. When i first heard this song in 1983 it made me cry. Their harmony is insane and vocals are filled with so much Soul. Them dancing wasn't all that great because their raw natural vocal ability and harmony was Angelic❤

Sorry; but I must correct you: "Mystery" was written, composed, and arranged exclusively by Temperton. Unfortunately, Temperton's rich harmonies in the Chorus were badly watered down and altered by Anita Baker's arrangers. @@Steel_the_Free

This was/is a brilliant album and should have been a much bigger hit. There were several tracks that deserved to be Top 40 hits. As it was, only Spice Of Life reached the Top 40 peaking at #40. Such a shame.

Love this version but lean a little bit more towards Anita Baker’s version! Rod Temperton is an amazing songwriter and producer!!! Aside from this cut, if you listen to “Spice Of Life” from this album and also written by Rod Temperton, you’ll notice it has the same structure and chords as Michael Jackson’s “Baby Be Mine” which is also written by Rod Temperton.
