Recently lost that beautiful pup you see in my profile, after 15 adventure filled years romping thru the bush of British Columbia, and this song is still a source of solace, to balance the moments I realize my loss. I miss you Cerrie Girl.

From back when jazz was positive and upbeat and just meant to get you movin' to the groove--where did music like this go, because I want it back??!!

I loved this band and still do today. I seriously thought Samuels was a major part of this band, and it wasn't same with him gone. RIP Dave.

what a timeless hit! so glad this track was never a sitcom theme song or hugely famous from any movies , broadccasts or anything like that. that way we can attach our own wonderful memories to the music. For me, it's being on vacation in Florida as a kid and happy as can be! such a warm cheerful tune . Are there any others like it that are almost as good? plz suggest some!

I enjoy "Route 101" by Herb Alpert. Another tune is "Making Love in the Rain" by Herb Alpert featuring Janet Jackson and Lisa Keith. All kinds of cherished memories with those songs.

My former friend/wife, now simply smart cute friend used to be the most inventive and artistic lovers when these talented musicians played anything! Hence, the group holds an important role in our needed cache of emergency supplies needed to get by more comfortably in some sort of emergency supplies! 🎉

I was about 23 when Morning Dance was first released. I had the album. I haven’t thought about this recording in years. I am now 67 years old, recovering from a recent hip replacement. Thinking about listening to something that will cheer me up in the morning. Morning Dance flashed through my mind. It still works as an inspirational pick me up. Thank you for posting.

On this day in 1979 {September 4th} Spyro Gyra were guests on the nationally syndicated weekday-afternoon television program, 'The Mike Douglas Show'... At the time their "Morning Dance"was at position #33 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, two weeks earlier it had peaked at #24 {for 2 weeks} and it spent fifteen weeks on the Top 100... And on July 22nd, 1979 "Morning Dance" peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart... The Buffalo, NY band had three other Top 100 records, "Shaker Song" {#99 in 1978}, "Catch The Sun" {#68 in 1980}, and "Cafe Amore" {#77 in 1981}... Band leader and co-founder Jay Beckenstein celebrated his 68th birthday four months ago on May 14th, 2019... Sadly, three members of the band have passed away, bassist Jim Kurzdorfer {1947 - 2011}, drummer Ted Reinhardt {1953 - 2015}, and vibraphone & marimba player David Samuels {1948 - 2019}... May all three R.I.P.
