Currently, the 2024 Elections are underway, and political parties have announced their manifestos. Our current government, the BJP, has also stated that if they win, they will ensure that Manipur, a state in conflict for the past 1.5 years, will be stabilized. However, the question arises: what has the government been doing for the past 17-18 months? The state government belongs to the BJP, and so does the central government, yet these issues persist. Why are people still facing problems? Why are they unable to live in their own homes, being displaced instead?
In this ground reporting video, we spoke with the people of Manipur themselves. We went there, understood the issues, and are presenting them to our viewers.

I am from Kuki community. And I know Nganthoibi, she sells fish in the market in front of Nute bazaar. She is a good person and soft-spoken. Just wanted to say that everything she said has the other side of the story as well. Meitei in Churachandpur is treated way better compared to how they treat Kuki in Imphal. I can't express it. Most of the Kuki Martyrs are civilians killed in Imphal. And Almost all Meiteis Martyrs are people who came to attack us in borders. We have no choice.

@prithwishroy The war was not a spark. It was well planned. Way before May 3, Kuki houses in village were demolished Including churches in Imphal, where lots of temple were build without proper papers and documents but they were untouched. The war started in 3rd March when Kuki had a peace rally against all these demolishes and claiming Tribals land a wildlife sanctuaries. On that day 3rd March after the peace rally they burn The Anglo Kuki war gate, and there was a fistfight between Meitei and Kuki. After the fight, some Meiteis pelted stones demolished houses and beat up Kuki's residence on the border. And everything escalated. They said Kuki started it but there are 100s of videos to prove it. The atrocities got worse when the Meitei spread fake news. And that fake news convince them to rape women. That is how the two girls were paraded naked. Besides the parade, there are two more incident of rape cases. Where two Kuki worker were taken in a room full of men for about 3 hours. They came out naked with full of blood stains, and unfortunately they did not survive.

@prithwishroy No rape happened in Churachandpur. If that happen that man will not be alive. The Churachandpur SP had verified about the news. It does not happen in Churachandpur. The Kuki are just defending themselves. If the Meitei stopped attacking there would be peace the moment they stop. The Kuki have not declared war on the Meitei but the Meitei did. There are so much fake news by the Meiteis, they normalize lying. Now they are facing the consequences of their lies. I got an update on when attacks happens. People in Manipur know who attacks who. Army knows who is the reason nehind this war. Meitei media is spreading the same lies. Everything slowly began to unravel. They are being exposed of their lies now.

I heard some people tried to burn war centenary gate, but why vandalized a whole meitie village because of it. I've seen a video of the village completely obliterated to the ground. I'm sure the violence in Imphal happened because of the news. I heard about the naked parade, and even we feel angry hearing the news. I hope the culprits get the sentence they deserve, but other than that, I feel like you are trying to demonize a whole community. As a Kashmiri Pandit myself, I can totally relate with people of manipur and can feel the situation of them. I can feel that there is another exodus happening in our nation, just like kashmiri pandit exodus of 1990. And I think the government has not learned from its prior mistakes and are making the same blunders that they did with the nation in 1990. As a refugee myself in my own country, I can feel the pain of manipur people and how it feels when your roots are burnt off and the government is just playing blame game. Hoping this time, people of India wake up on time to support people of India, and no other community face the hardship faced by Kashmiri pandits and now faced by common manipur people. Hoping for peace soon. 🕊🕊

The way you felt when you knew her story is the same as how I felt when I met a Kuki girl whose hotel and home where vandalized and she had to run away not to a nearby Manipur Kuki majority area but to Kolkata with her family with some two pairs of clothes. When I heard her story I judged the Meitei tribe and when I see this today I felt the same for the Ngan. So it’s so clear that the situation is neither black nor white. Really looking forward to your Churachundpur visit and seeing how you present that to the viewers. When it’s such a mutiny between two tribes that once lived with each other in harmony, no matter which side wins, the both side loses. My heart goes out to all those displaced from one’s home, any community they belong to as the first and foremost thing to be looked at it is that they are human beings like us.
