A few years ago I was wondering how Barney could be w/ so many different kids. Then I figured; Wait, if Barney is a toy then means he’s been mass produced, which in turn would explain why he looks different in his toy form every so often, and why so many kids had him.

I thought there were multiple different costumes used for Barney's Great Adventure, one with the cheeks a bit more upward, one with slightly more downward cheeks, and one where the head was a bit more squashed, looking almost like the Season 3 costume.

I worked for a PR company called Innovative Media in N Hollywood, CA, which was owned by Parvene Michaels, back in 1998. I was assigned the Barney’s Great Rock-n-Roll Adventure campaign with Lyrick Studios and we took him (the actor, the wrangler, and the voice actor) and Peebo Bryson to do a sing along at Guitar Center with kids we had gathered from the elementary school behind Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd. Then off to Cherokee Studios on Fairfax Blvd where I did an on camera interview with Barney then Peedo Bryson. The film crew we had captured B roll and the interviews as well as Peebo and Barney next to the piano singing. Then off to the Château Maramont suite we had booked for major media to interview Peebo and Barney about the new music cd, etc…Barney would be staged in the bedroom where the voice actor also had a monitor from a camera feed of the interview room. Barney would appear with full sound effect from behind the door once Peebo introduces him to the interviewer. It was a lot of fun and the actor who wore the suit had fans inside to regulate his body heat. But it still got hot! Great times!

​​@@kermitTHEdinosaur93 maybe. I always wanted to hear Duncan Brannan's Speaking Voice on some home videos But you only get to hear him at Interviews or mostly tours. He does have speaking roles in Barney's Beach Party & My Party With Barney (Personalized DVD) Just to name a few. He did the speaking roles on My Party with Barney while Bob did the singing and it was a great duo! Tim Dever did a Great Job but I really noticed the difference in Barney's voice when Tim voiced him and It sounds even more different when Barney sings (Duncan Brannan).

Personally, I never liked the intro for seasons 4 and onward of 'Barney & Friends.' I prefer the intro for seasons 1 through 3 with the white background. Thank you for showing appreciation for the performers in the Barney costume; I thought that was really cool and I never knew that story about Barney being on fire.

I hate how they kept on changing the theme song over the years by making the graphics more colorful and adding children laughing (stuff like that). I don't know, I've always like the intro for seasons 1-3 better and when I was watching the earlier seasons as an adult, I was like, "why didn't they keep the intro like that?" Then the creators turned the theme song into a rap for the last season, so I hated that.

So As a Kid I always notice Barney's eyes that we're always different every season and The Barney in Concert and the Season 1-2 Barney Costumes were different Usually Because of The Mouth.

Very interesting history on The Lyrick Studios era and I have done research has like a few researches on Barney's Great Adventure the movie which is a movie that I have to like even though it's the first theatrical release in the franchise and it was a box office bomb. ( and it makes me wondering if you like Barney's Great Adventure or you think it's decent) As well as on the reason as to why that it went in Smoke on the Barney costume itself. Thank God that Josh Martin didn't lost his life during that incident. I am absolutely surprised that Duncan Brannan doing the voice of him in season 4 before Bob West rerecord some of his lines of dialogue. I will be looking forward to the HIT Entertainment era history of the Barney costumes because I remember that when I was a kid watching it on PBS Kids as well as on sprouts and I don't mind for Dean Wendt of his nasal tone of voice even though I can understand that some people don't like it as much. It's pretty good that we see a face reveal of you.

Brannon voiced Barney in Home Videos like Be My Valentine, Barney’s House, etc. Dever mostly contributed to Barney’s singing voice.

@@HedgeOnStage I thought Dever was the talking cuz I know what Duncan's Voice is like it's a high pitch voice and he only voices barney when he sings but Dever I only know he did the singing in Barney's Christmas Star 2002 which was the preview of season 7 Barney suit and the last time Dever will voice Barney. oh whoops my bad I got them mixed up. Yes Dever does dialogue, Brannon does the singing. The only real guess is that either Dever isn’t much of a singer, or his singing in Barney’s inflection wasn’t as great so they gave that to Brannon.

What I'd like to know is where is the original Barney in the backyard game is backyard game studio costume today. Imagine getting your hands on the original suit? I would love to wear that to a convention.

The original costume was made of raw foam and spray painted. Bits and pieces would be used to create the costume from 1990, but the original was ultimately destroyed not long after the Backyard Gang finished its final tapes. The costume was not durable enough to hold up any longer and fell apart.

the change I disliked the most in modern Barney was his eyes. Like... I know they're all plastic but the new ones were static and so empty. I remember classic Barney had this twinkle that gave him such an expressive look, sometimes I forgot it was just plastic

i plan to do that after reviewing the three seasons of Lyrick. The doll used in the movie was a standard plush doll available in stores, partially due to the Studio Doll itself still being utilized for the TV series being filmed concurrently
