From what I know, the reason why the plush can continue to be made or released is cause SEGA owns the actual design. The shoes are apparently officially known as "Hi-Speed Shoes" or something like that. That and SOAP is defunct.

Honestly, I've said this on other videos, but they probably have warehouses full of this plush. They most likely use him at promotions, because they have so many. When a product costs less than 20 cents to make, there's bound to be a lot of them made. Several companies often find out they have an abundance of something in storage, and just throw it out there, because it's cost effective. As far as I can tell, this plush isn't gonna be on the market any time soon (by Sega I mean) because Sega and Sonic team realize that it's in pretty high demand. The second it goes back on shelves, its value would essentially plummet, unless you're a collector who wants an original. Personally, I would love to see Sega put sonic back in those soap shoes, because he looks pretty awesome with em. Let's get some hype for the soap shoes plush and figure shall we?

I saw one sell for like $90-ish on Yahoo Japan Auctions a few months ago, but then again you'd have to factor in shipping fees and all that. There was also one that ended on eBay Australia for around $150 too. It's definitely still possible to get one for semi-cheap (and it better be cause I still need to get one hahaaaaaaaa) so don't get discouraged cause of some of the prices people ask for it sometimes.

I did not know there was multiple version of this plush until I got two of them in possestions. I have the promo one which has 2001 promo not for sale and the original SA2 one. The 2001 promo has way better cuts and is actually bigger than the SA2 version. The sa2 version has more vibrant colors and is noticeably heavier.

Sadly the SOAP company went defunct years ago iirc, but SEGA still can use the shoe design so SOAP Shoes Sonic which is probably how the plush is still able to be used.

I believe that one is the last release yeah, but the ones at Hooters and now the new Cafe that opened recently don't have tags. I have no idea why they don't considering the ones at the cafe last year had tags but yeah. The tush tags on them at least are the same as the last generic release so chances are that's what they are. I'll probably end up making a video about the Hooters X Forces promotion and the new cafe as a sorta sequel to this video soon enough.

Oh, cool. That should be exciting. And either the tags somehow fell off (highly unlikely), they were cut (more likely), or they're all different than the ones used last year. Which further begs the question, "Why aren't they for sale?" There's probably entire warehouses filled with them in an undisclosed location somewhere, which explains how Sega has so many. So... why not sell them and make money?
