It finally happened. After 5 long years, I finally got my holy grail. The SEGA Prize Sonic Adventure 2 SOAP Shoes Sonic plush is now in my collection. Here's how it happened! In this video, I tell the 5 year story of my many attempts, failures, and memories with getting this plush.

This is so meaningful to me. I'm really into a magical girl series called Precure/Pretty Cure and you cannot find ANY merch for it in the US. It's insanely popular in Japan, but not here. Every local con i went to, nothing. My friends and i recently decided to take an impulse trip to New Orleans a couple weeks ago and the very last stand we went to before it was over was STUFFED with precure plushes. I almost cried i was so happy. I settled on Cure Marine in her Super Silhouette form (my favorite super form from the series) and paid for her and left. I could not be happier. She's adorable and she's hanging right near my bed from her string as i type this. Believe in your dreams, hold out hope, and you'll find what you're looking for.

It always sucks when a series is way more popular somewhere other than where you live. I can't imagine how it is collecting Sonic stuff for people not in the US, I know it's way harder so I totally get what you mean. Hey guys! It's been awhile, but I'm back, and I finally got a SOAP Shoes Sonic plush! I've been looking for this plush for many years, and have made several videos on it in the past, so I felt this was worthy of its own video. By the way, the reason this video took so long to come out was that the laptop I had been using since the start of this channel died a week or so ago, so I had to completely remake everything for this video. Things should be back to how they were before though now. Congrats on the SOAP sonic plush! To be honest I was the same way with the Sonic X Rouge the bat plush. I waited 6 years before I ever got my hands on one. She had popped up here and there over the years but like you she was just out of my reach. But she finally came around when I had the extra money to spend. Gold string, tag, practically brand new and I got her immediately. This video is important for a lot of reasons. You got rather personal throughout the video which really kinda brought it home. It’s one thing to say “hi I got this” and another to tell the story of how. It’s been an interesting ride hearing you mention this guy over and over and then finally have it. Also, that ending... You knew what you were doing! 😂 It’s not just important for yourself but a lot of collectors. I think every major collector or maybe even new collector can remember a time they searched and searched for something and then boom- it’s in their hand. When you collect as much as, say, I do for an example, a collectible can kinda get lost a in a sea of spiky blue Friends. But I will never forget the joy of receiving the stringy Sonic way back in 2010.... sigh... good times. Stories like these help ensure the collectible you have these memories with will always still valuable to you. It doesn’t matter how many copies there are of it in this world- to u, it matters u have one. Rare or retail, sometimes that’s all it takes to get into collecting. Congratulations man. Glad to hear you got through some tough stuff and found ur footing and I hope you continue to do what you love 😊

His story is very similar to mine but instead of Soap Shoes Sonic, it was Transformers G1 Soundwave. My journey began circa 2011 and ended in early July of 2018. I didn't care that it was a high quality bootleg, I'm just glad to finally have a good condition Soundwave in my collection.

What you said at the beginning reminded me of how I got my Toybiz Mario kart 64 Luigi. For years I wanted him. I saw him on KZbin videos (mainly SonicToast) and I needed him in my collection. The green Mario look of him showed how unique it was. I checked eBay for years looking for him only to to see $100+ listing. It made me super sad I thought I would never get it. One day I go on eBay to find a $40 used Luigi. It sold. I felt at that point it was over, he would just get rarer and rarer until it was too late. Then i found one for $50 ,used, and my dad let me order it. I almost cried opening him out of his bubble wrap. My whole life this was the one Luigi item I wanted since I was maybe 5. Watching this made me feel happy for you and really this story tells me anything can happen. I know my story sounds very similar to yours but I am 💯 percent honest about my story. the end of this video made me so emotional and I nearly cried I've only known your channel for a few weeks now and this video's quite a few months old but I just wanna say congrats, and thank you for the positive speech at the end, that really moved me too EDIT: its not as severe but I've been wanting a plush of the character Murray Monster from Sesame Street since I first discovered the character in April, even before I knew the plushes existed. I discovered they existed in June and FINALLY got one this month due to them being around $80-100 on Ebay and only in the US. I’ve been pretty sad over these years because I’ve been after the plush I’ve always wanted Star Rod Kirby I’ve been trying to get him ever since 2013 but it is one of the most expensive plushes ever i just look up photos of the plush and I try my hardest to research how to get them for cheap but my chance never came and now I’ve given up on Star Rod Kirby sometimes I have dreams of unboxing him and I wake up in the morning crying my eyes out thinking I’ll never get him.. I shed a tear (or two). When I was a kid, my brother had a Sonic plush (can't remember what kind, it's in his closet on a dresser) and I begged my parents to get ME a Shadow plush. I never got one and for years I wanted one, but gave up. I got my grail recently...an official Sony The Last Guardian Trico plush that was only sold at E3. With Sony announcing no longer wanting to have a booth at E3, I thought I would never get it. A highly sought, in demand item that will likely never be made again since the game came out years ago now - I thought it was out of my hands forever at that announcement. On The Last Guardian subreddit I had read several posts of people wanting one and kept checking back over and over again to see nothing changing in regards to the plush, with many exasperated that the plush is so expensive on Ebay, while retailing at E3 for $30. Some people said they had sent a message to the Sony PS Store about the plush and had gotten back answrrs that said they were thinking about it. After a while with no news on that front, I decided to ask them about it only to be met with a disappointing message that said they did not plan on stocking the plush. At the time I didn't even want to look at Ebay because I knew I couldn't pay the high auction prices for it. Last month after forgetting how much I wanted a Trico for a while I decided to have a look on Ebay. I found exactly one listing for a tagged, new condition Trico for around $250 Buy it Now. I went for it. They had an option to offer a lower price, but I decided against it because who knew when the plush would show up again? Now that I have it in my possession, I don't regret a single penny. Trico's fur is so soft, the quality of the plush so good with all the different materials, I never noticed before from pictures but the plush's wings have synthetic feathers! The weird thing is, it took me a minute to warm up to it once I had in person, but now I just want to snuggle it all the time. I hope I will never again pay that much for a plush. If I do, someone please hit me over the head with a stop sign and freeze my bank account.

As someone who collects a lot of stuff, this video made me cry. I’m so happy that you were able to get the plushie that you greatly desired. As someone who’s had a similar experience with getting rare things, noting is better than finally being able to gain it. Also, really weird thing for me, but I like whenever plushies look used. It shows that someone loved them, and it makes me happy that I can give them love as well. This video was great, you’ve gained a sub! Looking forward to seeing more content in the future! And good luck finding all the other plushies in this set! Never give up that dream, if you keep preserving, you’ll be able to get them!

Oh man this story is amazing, and explains the frustrations of obtaining rare collectables! I winced a few times, because I related so well to this when I was trying to obtain the rare Tufty Pichu Pokedoll, and how many times it's slipped through my grasp before I finally got it, just when I was giving up at that point. I'm so happy for you to finally get Sonic, and to inspire others to never give up to keep searching for their grails, cause in the end you'll persevere!

I want to take some time to thank you, PatMac. Your video taught me that good things come to those who wait, work hard, and dedicate themselves to achieve their goals, as I recently bought one of my personal holy grails. I have to thank you for inspiring me to push forward, keep my head up, and continue my quest of searching for one. I had a similar experience (though way less hardcore) with a Gex plush! He's so great and I'm so lucky to have him for a good price, in the UK as well! Sometimes the stars align just right for these things ♥️

Oh yeah, BD&A's Gex plush I think! I don't know anything about Gex but I imagine that guy is really hard to find now. Plushes based off obscure games like that are always impossible to get. I've been looking for the Klonoa plush for years and I don't know if I'll be able to find one for a good price for example haha.

I think I only ended up paying about £35 😱 I've just recently discovered your channel and am so grateful for all this wonderful content!
