This was CoDs golden age. Back when your money meant something to the company. They asked for $15 in exchange for multiple multiplayer maps AND a zombies map. Nowadays all you get for $20 is a unicorn skin. I liked die rise. Quite a bit in fact, and I never was all that into zombies previously. All the maps on that DLC were top tier. That was back when they had to make good maps in order to get that extra money. Now they laid all those devs off and use AI. Their golden goose isn’t their maps anymore, it’s skins. And that’s why I’m gonna end up quiting after almost 20 years with the franchise.

I disagree. I think there are some inherent design flaws. Obviously I haven’t played it in forever because when black ops two came out. I was a kid. I think I was 15 or something. And I did not like it. I didn’t like the random elevators perks thought most of my deaths were cheap But Maybe if I pick it up again and play it I might have a different opinion because that seems to be the case with a lot of games that I didn’t like now that I’m older. I enjoy them more

Jokes on Treyarch, the sliquifier was one of the most broken wonder weapons we ever seen. You could stand next to a corner on a ledge, shoot one shot of the sliquifier, and watch all the zombies fall of the ledge for several rounds.

The only real downside of Die Rise was the wonder weapon (which would have been amazing on any other map). They gave us a wonder weapon that made the ground slick on the one map where fall damage was a threat

It does infinite damage, I think it's super fair to have the sliquifier on this map. That's what makes it great, yeah it's awesome but you also have to be careful with it and think before you act.

Die rise was fuckin DOPE. Yes the map was usually trying to kill you somehow, but you had tools around to deal with things. For example falling off a building and losing all your shit SUCKS, until you learn you can come back, get a semi auto sniper off the wall and abuse a permanent perk that gives extra points for sniper kills. Making it easy to build yourself up again.

As being an OG Veteran in Zombies and been playing since WaW.. This map doesn’t get the love and appreciation it should’ve gotten. This is also one of the hardest Easter eggs I ever had to achieve only because the timing with the elevators your Team had to be on point at the very second . MANY HOURS was spent of this map being crushed in elevators shafts lol . Not to mention Using the Sniper on the roof to get Your Long shot which provided extra points for headshot kills. Die Rise was a perfect map I would die for a remaster on bo6

This is the only zombies map where I simply gave up before memorizing the layout in solo. I played the map twice in co-op, but that was only because I thought I was playing a different map and my teammates bait and switched me into playing this one instead. It was tolerable in co-op as only a fraction of the zombies come after you when compared to solo.

This was my favorite map, and the main reason why is that I was playing on a CRT tv from 2004 and it was the only map I could see on. Turning the brightness up just made the black shadows gray-not any less shadow-y. How ever I did really enjoy the map and was great at it

Die rise makes a lot of sense when you take the context of its release as well. The only zombies map in the base game was tranzit, and tranzit was pretty immediately disliked for a plethora of reasons. People felt it was too empty, the bus forced a linear play through that forced you the same way every time, it was a running simulator, there were tons of buildables people didn’t want to deal with, the wonder weapon sucked, all the old zombies characters were gone. Die rise served as a counter to tranzit, it was close quarters, nonlinear, fast paced, and the way it played felt closer to older zombies maps, but with an emphasis on verticality. I honestly never cared much for die rise because I was usually solo and it’s a brutal solo map but it definitely gave the community what they were asking for from a zombies map.

I did the EE for Die Rise when it was new. I never want to use the Sliquifier of the Tramplesteam again. If they want to remaster a map from Blops2 they should do BURIED or Mob od the Dead. Those two were the best. Or modernize MOON or that map from Blops3 witht the mashup of all classic maps and they can remove the wall running and change that. NO TO DIE RISE! LOL Great vid

I remember the online discourse around this map back when it was new. People were fed up having to wait for elevators all the time and many also disliked the general aesthetic which frequently came across as grey, bland and unappealing. The difficulty wasn't even mentioned THAT often in comparison. I'm severly disappointed with how toxic and immature the community is in this comment section.
