An excellent idea for a series, and despite the generally inefficiency of it still have a soft spot for the -3R Marauder. Like you said, its iconic and just too darn cool looking to ever be ignored. Sometimes the inefficiency can be part of the fun!

Correction on the 3R. That was a wartime austerity product of the Star League Civil War, as the SLDF was losing more advanced stuff faster than they could replace it. This led to them ordering simplified versions of common mechs in the SLDF inventory from factories they managed to retake or capture in the Rim Worlds Republic, among them the Marauder (as a command mech, they were priority targets for Amaris' forces and suffered high attrition rates). Its simplicity let it stay in production into the later Succession Wars, but at a much reduced rate compared to before.

The big reason the XTRO Omni didn't get full production is mentioned, but the actual number isn't given. Basically, it's way to expensive in-universe. You can dick around in MechFactory or MegaMek to reverse engineer the thing and it's cost comes out to anywhere between 88 and 120 Million C-Bills. I like the idea of the omni-marauder a lot, too. I made my own that I use for home games.

Interesting and out of curiosity how much of a shift might you see with a well used C3 system for the 5R, 7C and 9w2? I would love to see this for the Tbolt and see if you can find a way to calculate in targeting computers if idea hits you before then next video and well used C3 network.

If you can come up with a mathematical way of representing (on a 10 scale) the benefit of a TC, I would love to know. I've been racking my brain trying to figure a way to incorporate C3, TC, etc into this. It is one of the things that slowed this project down in the beginning - trying to calculate those... near-intangibles. Just none of my calculations deal with 'to hit scores.' That opened a whole new can of worms when I tried it. And I'll put the T-bolt down as the potential next mech to run through this process.

The specific value of a C3 would be really tough to easily quantify since it's ultimately dependent on the position of lancemates in any given situation. For a TC, might need a whole new category: maybe something like "Average Damage at Range X If all weapons fire." How often would Weapon A hit taking into account weapon range modifiers, pulse and TC benefits etc x damage + Weapon B x damage + Weapon C x damage + etc. Might just keep it to a single range since that would be a crapload of calculations otherwise. Maybe use 6 hexes since that's the far end of medium range for our ubiquitous weapons measuring stick, the medium laser (and the start of minimum range penalties for IS LRMs). Granted that would give weapons like Small lasers, flamers and MGs no value, but really they're mostly specialized anti-infantry weapons anyway, they don't add a ton of value to any particular mech on their own. Just an idea.

@@SleeplessRonin I looked over the system you use to create your radar charts and like you noted you don't take into account any to hits. I see what you mean by it being very hard work out how that would impact them. It may be as simple as adding a caveat for the mechs with TC or C3 systems.

@@matthewpena3932 Correct. I did not include "to hit rolls" as that is actually more the pilot than the machine (except when benefiting from C3 / TC). So, yeah, for now and carrying on, I'm just going to be sure to note those systems as I have been. They are the 'bonus' goodness, the systems that are more pilot dependent.
