The Lozi Silimba from Zambia & the Chopi Marimba from Mozabique were all evolved into the today commonly known Marimba, This all happened in the regions Central to Mozabique & Zambia, today this region is known as “ZIMBABWE”. Cononial Borders & colonial influences distorts the history & origins of the instrument. Funny that even the Stone structures that gave name to this Country “ZIMBABWE” , were even argued that they were not built by the the intelligent locals that occupied that region. Marimba originated in Southern Africa in within cultures of three specific Countries Mozabique, Zimbabwe & Zambia. The Instrument was present in these three countries, the only thing that makes Zimbabwean Marimbas stand out is because the Shonas Merged their version of Marimba with that of Chopi & that of Silimba , & they standardized the Instrument that Colonizers are proudly Claiming to have more knowledge about, more than the people that had it as part of their cultures for centuries.

That's why we must reclaim and tell our own history instead of relying on these European so called "experts." Subconsciously, Africans cannot be inventors, only importers of foreign innovation.

Stop lying about the origins of marimba. Get your facts right. Where in Asia are you suggesting this instrument comes from. Just the name tells you if it's southern african origins.
