Definitely true that the first couple of years of marriage, while being the funnest in some ways, can and probably will be the most difficult in other ways.

Fascinating :-) I suspect rocky marriage beginnings are pretty common. Wonderful that you stuck it out and built good things together :-)

This is such an inspiring story. Here we have a couple who, against serious obstacles, managed to weather the storms, overcome the physical and emotional distance separating themselves, and endure until they found their family and their groove. Marriage is very challenging and so many ultimately give up, some unnecessarily, but the prize belongs to those couples who cling to one another, love one another, and somehow find a way to make it all work. From my experience that ‘somehow’ is when both partners surrender their own selfish wills to God and put Him at the center of the marital union. This was a very good study in what it takes to make a marriage work and last long-term. Many thanks to the couple!!

Rob & Kim, this made me teary-eyed. There’s many parallels in y’all’s story to my own. My husband & I met in Nashville, shortly afterwards we moved to Florida (due to his work), with our Dachshund & cat, & we got married; however, our marriage went down the tubes so very quickly for a multitude of reasons. We’re now separated 1,000 miles apart from each other & heading towards a divorce. A huge point of contention for us is I too don’t feel drawn to have my own physical children, rather move to India as a missionary, & help with orphans over there. I’ve felt this passionate & called to this since long before I met my spouse. He’s not keen on the idea at all. 😩 Anyhow, if y’all see this… we could use prayers. 🙏🏼

Seest thou a man (woman) wise in his ( her) own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him ( her). Proverbs
