Dear KZbin gods, please allow this masterpiece to end up on Omar and Cedric’s screens and have them do a blind react so we can see them cry openly at how deeply loved they and their music are. ❤❤❤ This cover like- moves me to my core!

Never in my life would I have imagined such a clean cover of TMV. Actually “cover” doesn’t nearly do this justice. It’s a proper reinterpretation, and it’s done so beautifully. It’s the kind of version I’ll definitely find myself listening to over and over again. And I’m a sucker for the bubblegum soul touch you gave it by ever so slightly twisting the chord progressions 😭

I saw this video on Monday, 10/23/2023 for the first time. I was absolutely blown away by every aspect of this cover. The vocals, guitar and bass work were absolutely impressive in performance. It is now Saturday, 10/28/2023 and i cant stop listening to this. Totally blown away. One of the most impressive things ive ever seen. Congrats! It is a year later and I am still jamming to this masterpiece. The last bit is so impressive my friend.

Holy absolute fuck! My friend, you absolutely killed this. This is my favorite TMV song ever. I adore that you recreated the heavy Con Safo section they do live, as I have always loved that so much, I'm happy you love it as much as I do. Secondly, I am extremely impressed by your vocals. They capture the forceful, passionate, feminine sexiness that Cedric expresses, but yours is unique and totally your own. Also, excellent video editing. I love seeing full Cygnus covers, and they're very rare. I would be excited to see more Volta covers from you. And finally, someone really needs to show this to CBZ or ORL, I think they would go nuts over this. If anyone knows them personally, please send this over to them. Now I'm gonna go leave this exact comment on your reddit post to boost your views hopefully.

YOU DID IT!! I think you captured the spirit of Omar's guitar playing and Cedric's vocals. You nailed their articulations and many of their stylistic choices including Cedric's signature falsetto & vibrato as well as Omar's often chaotic flailing. You absolutely MURDERED (in a good way) the drum programming. Absolutely master level drum programming. I can tell that took a ton of dedication and time. I also really appreciated all the liberties and divergences from the original arrangement. They were tasteful and precisely executed. The production & fx were all on point which people don't often give enough time or easily over do. Bravo sir. Looking forward to more of your work. PS you gave me the same chills that the original does during the FFF breakdown after the extended solo & jam.

If I knew there was a Mars Volta cover, my guess would be that it would be shit, or short, or sound nothing like them. Because they're EXTREMELY UNIQUE, very talented, can belt notes in ranges no one could hit, and a maximalist band, and very psychedelic. Sounds like that are random-ish, so they're very hard to recreate, because they're impulsive, emotional and sporadic. Not to mention, it's a 13 minute song, in 4 parts. This cover is spot on, and even manages to add flare. Guitar, vocals and bass, each just killing it. The guitar solo really captures Omar's work. Not to say the other parts didnt capture either, but to catch notes like that - so precisely is incredible. I notice the pushing on the neck for whammy effect. I do the same on guitar, but I think its known as a sort of a poor man's whammy bar. Is this bend on neck by choice or a lack of whammy bar? Looked into the artist too, and they have an amazing EP as well. A good blend of influences as well as original and unique. Just listened and I hear Kaki King, Thrice, NIN, of course Mars Volta and so many more. Oh, and Finch. Which are deep nostalgia cuts. Especially with the Finch influence, and how and where it reminds me of Finch. The "dark and deep but sparking life behind it" kinda feel. So, the EP as well as this cover are new found gold. Thank you! I really appreciate the music. Am now a huge tan 😍 Kahal EP: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6XWep13nLF5sLMsi=mw2d6X3lA8OZXX7h Kahal Spotify: open.spotify.com/album/2OqU3W36aGeF4c6782C54B?si=RGbMJzPTTEaMAQqJuq21mQ

hey thanks so much , i dont have a whammy bar and always find when using one i think its gonna be awesome, but i feel like they just get in the way, i pushed the neck for bending chord effect just by figuring out that was something i could do years ago, i think in the song omar actually uses a whammy bar for that part of the solo i’ve also never heard of kaki king, thrice, or finch, id be interested to hear what they sound like n compare it to what i do thanks for the kind words👍❤️
@sodahere4 күн бұрын
@kahall I think Omar uses a whammy too. I've heard it's not best to bend the neck like that because of course it can warp it. But so long as your instrument has a truss rod, is made well and isn't already warped - then some bending should be aiy't. Very surprised you haven't heard of Finch and Thrice. Your music sounds a lot like Finch especially. Especially in the vocals. And not just them but bands like them too. I think Finch was kinda this poppy So Cal band around 2,000. They started out sounding like Jimmy Eat World and Story of the Year. But overall they sound like The Used. Finch was really popular for a moment, but in their album release called Say Hello to Sunshine, it lost them a lot of fans. As it was darker and different than the earlier stuff. Say Hello to Sunshine is a really good album. A real hidden gem. And your music reminds me of how they sounded in that album, and also in the small EP they released after. So I'd recommend Say Hello to Sunshine. Thrice had an even larger change in their sound. And where I hear them in your music, is also in my favorite albums of Thrice. Vheissu was really their best album if you ask their fans and I. They released a 4 part album called the Alchemy Index after that. It seemed to carry part of their Vheissu sound. So I'd recommend Vheissu, and maybe the Alchemy Index. Particularly the Water one maybe. Kaki King you sound less like. More of a genre comparison. It's female vocals and acoustic guitar and she had some of the added electronic sound on some. She's insanely talented on acoustic. Does the whole Andy McKee/Rodrigo y Gabriella tapping stuff. Basically guitar wizardry and mastery. After hearing all your music and reading your age I was baffled how someone could sound like they have so much musical influence so young. Like someone who has spent years of just listening and being influenced heavily by vast amounts of music. Prodigal, to say the least. Yeah, get some marketing or something 😂 good shit 😍👍
