This was written by Jay Welch as his University of Utah doctoral thesis composition and was specifically written for Richard W. Robison's baritone voice. Richard and Jay were friends in the late 50s and Richard would meet with Jay and sing the baritone parts to assist in the writing of this composition. At the time, Jay Welch was assistant conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Richard Robison sang in the choir and conducted the American Fork High school choirs in American Fork Utah
