My wife went into labor leaving the theatre from watching The Martian so we watch it on my daughter’s birthday every year. I really liked the book but I also really like thrillers. I was one of the people who bought it for 99 cents when it first came onto Amazon.

The narrator on this does Expeditionary Force...easily the best most popular SciFi narrator on audible! His range of voices are insane!

I’m surprised your visual acuity is great enough that you call out the reversed shirt! This is my favorite of his three. I absolutely agree that the never ending positive outlook is unrealistic and I can understand how that could throw you out of the novel. I wished that there were a few more instances where he showed despair. The most realistic emotional moment was when he breaks down in tears after being physically touched by another person for the first time in months. But the novel is so fun that, while not realistic, I just forgive it.
