what about both ? I would honestly trade Matheson High value market rn + he gets a chance to maybe win a cup somewhere else. Lets be honest by the time we are cup ready Matheson won't be. we still have Lane Hutson that can fill his shoes over the years. Reinbacher coming up probably by the end of next season we have to open some spots on the D line and so on the offensive. If we really can get rid of Josh and make some cleanup with Matheson Harris Strubble Kovacevic Justin Barron. This could change out the whole draft plan too and we will be in a better position to either select a youg d Man or still pursue offense. Thats the way I see it. Imo it's not like we dont have the assets to do both

That is a lot. Though you have to look at Anderson gone without retention as part of the return for the Habs. I don't think Struble or Barron have a lot of value. With that said I think you're better off hanging onto them in hopes they improve. I guess if they don't improve though (which is not unlikely), then you would have been better off moving them now...

Having followed Beck closely for the past two years I can say that Beck is far more than a third line center. Beck offers strong skating, who has the increasingly rare ability to score off the rush. People forget that at the beginning of the season Beck played the half- boards on Saginaw's top power play. He was a scoring threat using his excellent one timer. He sees the ice well and is an on ice and off ice leader. This is not the player you trade.

Necas wants $7-$8M per season. If we’re building a balanced roster, we have room for about 4 forwards earning that much, and we have 3 already (counting Slaf.) Carbonneau was a scoring phenom in junior but there are similarities for sure. 3Cs aren’t exactly a rare commodity, but the good ones can make or break you in the playoffs. I think I’m too curious to see what we have in Beck to trade him away right now.

Beck isn't making the Habs out of Camp. Unless they trade one of Evans or Dvorak, there is no room for him on the Habs at C. Besides, he can use time in Laval, before dumping him in the deep end. If Dvorak isn't traded over the summer, he will be by trade deadline, then you bring Beck up to take his place, after he has made his mark in Laval. Habs aren't trading Matheson. Not time yet. And no, that trade is stupid for Necas.

Beck is incredible and it would be a big mistake to trade him - same with Roy too. If they are both only 3rd liners which I doubt, I think they could easily become 2nd liners - but the Habs might have better 2nd liners that they get stuck being 3rd liners. Even if they are only ever 3rd liners they will be vital for Cup runs. I wouldn't move either of them.
