Not only in the UK, but, the Whole World which is another reason why our Cap Badge is the Globe. Actually, the Globe is because the Royal Marines had too many Battle Honours around the world that it was thought appropriate as the only Symbol to show their achievements in Battle.

The planning, preparation and rehearsals to create a display of this magnitude must have been staggering, to say the least .............. and this is result - Magnificent ! As a Retired Royal Marine Musician, I notice the difference in our Drill Movements to those of the US Marine Band, otherwise we both achieved the SAME end result which was a Musical Rendition of what we played was it not?

What a superb display, the precision was brilliant for such a large contingent of musicians. Only The Marines(not just ours), can do a display like this. It had the desired effect too, left you wanting more, will definitely have to buy the DVD.

+richtofen40 This is the band of the Royal Dutch Marines, not the US one. And military music, atleast in Britain, is quite international, the Royal Marines e. g. use Preobrajensky as their slow march, Coldstream have Mozart and you'll find the Grenadier Guards playing the Stars and Stripes forever aswell as the US Navy Band playing HM Jollies (a RM march) and Rule, Britannia.

I've directed US HS and University bands and we play marches from around the world... with my students, we've played Prokofiev(Russian), Sousa (American), Alford (British), Saint-Saens (French), Hannsen (Norwegian), Ganne (French), Fucik (Czech), Michel (Spanish)... King (American), Barber (American)...

+John Yun It's an artifact of the massive intermarriage among European Royalty. Mountbatten, who was related to the Romanovs, gave Preobajensky to the Royal Marines, as their slow march. The Imperial German Army had Preobajensky in their catalog. Nicholas II of Russia and Wilhelm II of Germany were Queen Victoria's grandsons. So it goes. Eli D.

Terence Warner The English were the best overall, no doubt. The Yanks marched sharp, but their musical talent was shite. The Dutch played expertly, but their marching was very lazy.

US Marine Bands are renowned Worldwide. Each Division and MAW Have one. Just because we march differently, does not mean you should criticize. The US Marine Bands are trained in music and combat.
