ye it does quite a bit in salad: - you can now go into raging phoenix without using the field spell, as you can use weasel to trigger the link3 effect and then protect your own card with balelinx so you can relink a raging phoenix + link 3 into ragining phoenix(sometimes you want to use both wolf and raging phoenix in the same combo), this actually works for the 1 card salamangreat of fire combo so now you get to keep field spell in hand if you want for discard foder such as for a foxy effect - extra disruption and follow up for next turn - its actually otk with a popped raging phoenix + this 2800 * 2 due to popping phoenix + 2700 = 8300 - when you use it as a disruption you can use bale to protect what you popped on your field - triggers raging phoenix in gy when using its effect - now tactics to steal is a better card as you have a good target to link into with non-fire monsters - turns unoptimal hands into the link 4 combo ie. spinny + jack jaguar

Just to mention using the field spell as discard fodder for foxy, you will need another face up spell card on the field that isn't the field spell to make that work

Please note that using balelynx to protect will make you unable to summon princess back, as her revival effect says "destroy them, and if you do", which means that 2 cards must be popped in order to resolve the rest of the effect.

@@mrlj2707 other interactions are using weasels effect to summon a salad to your opponents field and using a gozen or rivalry to lock them into fire or cyberse. Then sanctuary and fire in grave to make sure they keep the salad on their field. Or summoning a heatsoul if possible mid combo to get a free draw, or etc

I disagree that you're always gonna just Link her off. She keeps coming back so you're not gonna always have a Link 4 to go into later in the match, and 2700 is beefy so I think she's gonna have chances to swing in. Especially if you're swinging for game, cuz 2700 + another Fire Monster will almost certainly be more damage than anything you can Link into.

Think you're really underestimating this cards potential, it's basically dis pater + regained for ink. This makes gearfried turn from a soft brick into a full on extender because you can use him for the link 3 or isolde + it turns angie into Beatrice because you can target her, use her 2nd banish herself to get mauigs for recycling and draw or ricci if you don't have access to him to extend from hand. Not to mention you can use the link 3 as a mid combo piece to revive a body for angie or charles.

Why is it clunky? You re always triggering charles and you can easily link climb into it via isolde. It will definitely come up in hands where you get handtrapped and its another way to get to gearfried from gy. Yes, sometimes you ll want sp on your endboard instead but thats matchup dependant. Its also the best way to revive charles on t3 (ddr is awful card). Also the pop effect can be used to trigger angelica on the opponents turn for even more advantage. And one last but probably most important thing - this card makes you able to combo if you dont have a lv4 nontuner in gy to summon from ricciardetto from isolde. Now people are going isolde->ogier->dump turpin->make an xyz. Instead now you can go isolde->ogier->dump ricciardetto->make prisoner->revive ricciardetto, he revives ogier ->make angelica->proceed as usual. This is SO important because now you havent used turpin yet so you dont have to waste a museum later and can use it get another link1 charles instead. TLDR: it gives the deck's worse hands a much better endboard. This card is insane for the deck.

In Salads, you can use weasel to summon to opponents field, proc the Link 3, then pop that opp monster and your own Pitknigkt Eerlie. Summon. Summon link 3, then summon second phoenix from gy. End phase summon eerlie back

the most important part about this is that it now prooves that master duel will get cards before the tcg which means a decent amount tcg players will at some point play a real format that has cards that are not in the tcg. no more seeing something is busted in the ocg just to realize that it sucks in the tcg. now we can actually test if the card is good on our own

The pop makes me immediately think of playing her in Unchained. It’s a fiend so you can play around that lock and she can grab Aruha or Sharvara and both of those cards can get her off the field to get rid of the fire lock while still having a pop live on your opponent’s turn that ends up being a +2 because all of your Unchained cards grab something new and you get a 2700 body on board. Only issue I really see is all the Unchained links are dark so you’d be giving up Rage/Anguish interruptions and would really only have a Caesar to back it up and use something like a Knightmare Phoenix as another means of getting it off the field under the fiend lock while not being a completely useless card. Or Muckraker sack it off on your opponent’s turn maybe. Probably not an amazing card to run, but being able to pop your own guys and plus that much seems neat at least on paper. Wouldn’t be too surprised if there’s some way to force it though since Unchained seems to benefit the most from popping their own stuff out of the somewhat relevant decks.

I already love this card in Infernoid. Like SO many ways to make use of this card and even if say you were Fire locked, Infernoid is known to tribute your monsters, so even if she isn't climbing to Flood, she can still become fodder. Also I want to mention a Link 2, Flametongue the Blazing Magical Blade because this card in Noids helps not only climb into Fruitful Flames, but can be brought back if you want to keep recovering your Infernoid pieces. As said, this card is phenomenal and it does what it's supposed to do and I'm truly happy for that.

What is more interesting in my opinion is that with the new packs, there is a monster that shuffles even face- down banished cards back into the deck. It's like a reverse Chaos Emperor Dragon and one of few cards that give you face- down banished cards back.

Could the early release mean they are going to drop the salad support earlier as well? That would make a great addition to the masterduel format imho and maybe get the deck more time in the spotlight since it has been quite a beloved archetype but is doing slightly better than rogue rn in the tcg and isn't doing much in the ocg either. I guess it sees more local play again but i hoped for the new salad support to do a bit more. I love the new cards but at first i was a bit disappointed because i didn't see early on how good raging phoenix was going to be hence i thought we only got one searcher and a new one of that was neat and made the deck more flexible but the deck is after all still punished hard by getting nibd and lacks negates on legs that can be summoned a bit quicker so we could play around nib. But now i sound like one of those "it needs just one more thing to be broken" people and i kinda have to laugh about myself ^^

Let's say you only have Hydrant as a Normal, Summon it, search Preventer, link Hy for Almiraj, summon Preventer using Hy, Make I:P or S:P, summon back Hy via Preventer, go into Flame Princess, revive a fire (either preventer or Hy) and go into Amblowhale, then you've ended on a 3K Amblo with two potential Land mines and the possibility to recur yourself next turn if they don't kill FP. And if you can end the board with additional 1 fire monster, your opponent now has to contend with Amblowhale reviving I:P to use the extra monster to go into Little Knight, or even just having S:P itself, or FP using that fire monster as double layered Mine. Obviously the above case is a very fringe scenario, you'd likely have more to play with than a single Normal Hydrant, and in any case where you special hydrant, you'd more oft go for the Terrahertz or even an Iblee line using Air Lifter, but it's also worth considering if somehow in the future they make another generic Link 4, a single Hydrant can in theory get you there.

Heatsoul requires 2 cyberse :P, but still its insane. Weasel activates it in grave and gets ALOT of advantage turn 1, cause you bring the link 3 back and activate raging phoenix turn one then can make the link 4 josh showed. It also helps recursion next turn with summoning a gazelle or fire from grave and helps to play through interrups well
