@@DomSigalas oh I did it was amazing. Just turning it on was magical. I was hype from the starting of the download. And after turning it on I just couldn't believe it is that good. So good! I need to get the preset folder so I can see all the starting points but to be honest sometimes it's solid right from the starting point. Mine didn't show up when I downloaded it is empty so I'm trying to have PA send me it so I can manually add to my vst folder.

I owned a Soma for about six years before I sold it. PA got the dry character of the boxtone to some degree. But the real unit is a bit cleaner and not as woofy as in these demo videos. Also, I agree with the comment about how it handles transients. Its an amazing eq but its one where you would want others because it doesn't work on all material. But its just another plugin at the end of the day. That's what they all are, whether pure digital or emulation. Just plugins. I'm okay with it. I have the sub so I'll be able to get it and use it if needed. Still rolling with my Sontec and 5500.

Been waiting on this. I only just discovered AA Scarlet4 Classic and it became my favorite mastering eq. I knew this Soma was on the way so I’d been getting excited as hell. There is a ‘depth’ 3D factor w/ the Scarlet 4 Classic that amazes me (it is a curiously absent quality on the ‘home brew’ and their Ivory) along with the Scarlets curves, too - so this Soma is gonna get put against it. I can’t wait!!

I compared it against the Azure2 EQ from Acustica Audio (which is the Soma EQ of Zirko Mikorey) and the AA Eq wins all the time, It has an analog feel and 3D depth that this digital sounding version from bx is lacking, unfortunately. Especially when boosting the highs, the curves of the bx eq tend to affect the midrange in an unpleasant way.

You can't expect PA to compare to AA in sound quality, but they are easier to install and use, cheaper, and you can run a lot more in a session. For this plugin and mixbus/mastering, AA worth it.

Before you buy it, test it out against Azure 2 by Acustica audio which is made from samples of Zinu Mikoreys own soma Knif , you can trial them both and see which you prefer , azure 2 uses actual samples of the hardwares curves

When you solo the MS information on both tracks the left and right are almost completely out of phase to each other. They almost completely cancel in mono. Don't know if this is an issue in the plugin or somewhere else in your chain.

Not to take away from this EQ, or your excitement about it.... but man, if I watch one more video about a software EQ that, at most, is 2% better than the best one I have, and say, 10% better than the worst one, I think I just might explode. Hey, just tell me what the very best software EQ is, that EXACTLY emulates the best hardware unit there is. I'll buy that one, and use that one exclusively on every track.
