I already got it, I think for best results you should also have a thinner brush restoring solution (like the Windsor newton one) that’s better for getting down into the ferrell for a restoration clean instead of a maintenance clean.

As a former fine arts major I love this video! Too many people do not clean their brushes right and cleaning and conditioning an "ok" brush can make a real difference. For a good natural bristle brush you're just throwing away money if you're not using something like this product. I prefer to use the bar but that's just me. The pots of soap are just as usable and even last longer. Great stuff. Also, the best way to dry brushed is hanging with the bristles pointed down. Doing both of these things really extend the life of any brush.

I bought a jar of this probably a year ago and never really got around to using it mostly because I kept forgetting I had it. After watching your video I decided to sit down and clean my mini brushes and I'm so glad I did. I'm terrible about throwing away old brushes so I had a few that were long dead and this stuff brought them back to life wonderfully. I even pulled out the first brush I ever used for terrain purposes that had long solidified with paint after I forgot to clean it one too many times and it even restored that brush. So yes. Use this. Every time. Forever.

He speaks the truth. This is good stuff. It cleans and conditions. Dish and bar soap will ruin a brush over time.

Love this stuff it's amazing and I have been using it for years. The only thing you should do at the end after the brush rinses clear is put a bit more soap on the brush and shape your point. I do it in the crease of my hand. It'll keep the point sharper longer for you.

Hello! I'm an art major and this came in one of the art kits for my acrylic painting class- I've been loving using it and honestly can't live without it now! If you are interested in painting larger pieces (backdrops for your maps or just regular paintings) you will go through this much faster and that's probably why those bigger sizes of this soap exist! When painting for extended periods of time or volumes my professor also recommends to periodically wash the brush so paint doesn't build up or give the brush a second scrub with soap when cleaning!

This stuff is awesome, I have been using it for years. I still have some expensive sable hair brushes I bought in 1989 that I still use today. Take care of your brushes (and use expensive/professional ones) and they will literally last decades.

P.S. I also always let the dry hanging with the bristles DOWN. This helps if you plan on keeping brushes usable for years and years.

Love Masters Brush Cleaner, really seems to recondition brushes as well as cleaning and helps keep points well. Don't recommend 'licking' brush when done cleaning... some paints can be toxic, so if just a bit of paint in the Ferrel of the brush, you can pick some of that up in your 'lick'. Nice video.

There are some other options for people if you prefer, a lot of the craft/hobby stores have an equivalent in their painting sections. Just make sure you're getting the right type because there tends to be differences between the acryllic, watercolor, and oil paints (and others as well). With the weekly coupons on their apps, a lot of those might also be a cheaper option.

So I bought some this week. It arrived yesterday and I used it today. It brought back brushes that had changed colors. This restored the brushes and removed the caked on paint. Also first thing I did, was smelled it. I liked the smell. LOL

I've been using the Masters' soap for years and quite like it. Highly recommended. I'm still using the 75g tub I first bought maybe 10 years ago; it lasts forever. Interestingly, here in Colorado, it has dried out a bit and shrunk away from the sides of the container by a couple of mm, but I haven't seen any change in the way it cleans. But if you have crusty dried paint up near the ferrule (which will happen eventually even with regular cleaning), I use Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner and Restorer. It does a much better job on really dried paint. In fact, you need to keep the wooden part of the brush out of the W&N stuff, as it will take the lacquer right off the brush handle. After using it (for natural hair brushes, anyway, which I use almost exclusively), I would recommend using a hair conditioner to put some oils back into the hairs. As to what angle you store your brush? Doesn't matter. At that scale the dominant force in fluid movement is capillary action, which works the same regardless of angle (there's actually a tiny difference, but it's truly insignificant).
@markselorio58376 жыл бұрын
I wonder if any stray vibration might upset capillary action and knock liquid back into my brush as I live in a busy household if I store head up...
@dougsundseth69046 жыл бұрын
If there's enough fluid in the brush that knocking it around will dislodge droplets, you might want to dry out the brush a bit more. (Not intended as a snarky comment, btw; I really do dry my brushes until they're just damp.) Even keeping the hairs of the brush very wet for weeks or months won't cause problems (this was tested by one of the Reaper forums members). Though it's a bad idea to keep the brush pressing down on the hairs (because they will develop a permanent bend) or to keep the handle wet (because it will swell and then shrink when it dries out, loosening the ferrule or cracking the lacquer.)

Less than 2 months ago I started searching KZbin for "Miniature painting". I found several presenters to whom I am currently subscribed, including yourself and Miniac (you know him!!!!). I then went looking for minis that I could transform into the hero characters from the game, "Sacred" (now called "Sacred Gold" after the final updates). But no matter how I tried, I could only find one mini in 75mm format that was $80 and that was way to much for me at that time, having not painted a mini in over 30 years. So then someone posted a vid where they'd ordered a mini they'd designed on Heroforge.com and reviewed and painted it. I immediately went to Heroforge and designed and ordered my mini. When it was enroute, I placed a nearly $500 order on Amazon for The Army Painters complete paint set (all 124 bottles plus the 5 brushes), the complete set of 10 brushes including the Kolinsky Masterclass brush, the wet palette, 2 packs of mixing balls, and a few other items. One thing I neglected was was a cleaning agent. So tonight on the way home in anticipation of beginning painting I picked up a 2.5 oz container of "The Masters" brush cleaner. I've used it and I like it. And thank you for the vid and telling us how you use it. I've conditioned both of my used brushes and they are now drying. "The Psycho" seems to be a bit off. A bunch of bristles were bent away. I'm hoping conditioning them will bring them back to the main body. Anwyay, love your work. Keep it up. Ciao.

Interesting, i've always used Speedball power wash and soap personally. Recently I had to replace my power wash, I had a moderately difficult time finding it. Michael's was out of it, or stopped carrying it i'm not sure (where i've always gotten it before) . I had to go to Amazon to get a bottle and it was almost twice what i've paid in the past. I think when I run out of power wash and soap, i'm going to give this product a try. It beats having 2 products on hand for half the price. Thanks for the review Jeremy, looks like a great product.

Thank you for this video.. I've been thinking about getting some of this cleaner for quite some time.. I do have a question though... If I swirl around a really fine size 0 brush, won't all that swirling eventually spoil the tip of the brush? Do I need to treat the finer brushes more delicately, or swirl them the same way people do with the larger size brushes? Thank you.

Ok nice review. Was wondering if this was a good product and seeing I watch your channel i can trust your judgement on it. Was going to buy some Warhammer models on amazing and they're $5 cheaper than their online store but it's .35¢ below the "free shipping" so I was thinking about adding this to my cart to get the free shipping. Now I just need to know if it would be better if I did that or if it would be cheaper just to pay the shipping and if they'll have sales tax on the item instead of getting both these products for the free shipping.

I rarely have to wash my brushes because I use a brush tub like this: www.amazon.com/Loew-Cornell-384-Brush-Tub-II/dp/B0019IKYU8 It's probably the best $10 I ever spent on painting supplies. Basically, you fill both parts with water and you can clean you brush by gently running it across the ridges. When you're not using that particular brush you can store it with the tip suspended underwater. (Not a good long term option for reasons mentioned in the video, but fine for a minute or two while doing touch-up with another brush/color.) This one also comes with a wet pallet, which I keep meaning to learn how to use but haven't yet (so I can't comment on if it's any good). Note: The item linked above comes with random other stuff (brushes, paint, etc) that you probably don't want, but I found it cheaper at my local Michael's without the extras. EDIT: Despite all that, I just picked up the 2.5 oz, because I'm sure my brushes could use a good conditioning at some point. :-)

Not sure why this intrigues me, but what brushes are you using in your demonstration? Just art store ones, or are they from a specific company? Also, something to use in tandem with this product is this little plastic doohickey called a paint puck. You put it in the bottom of whatever you use to wash your brushes in, and it has these nubs that help knock off paints close to the connection point.
