What I love about his voice is when he sings the lyric,” I use lose control” he sounds like he’s vocally being thrown off of a cliff for lack of a better word

This is one of my favourite videos of yours yet. Wonderful song AND wonderful analysis. Cheers as always Chris!

I remember him doing covers with that funny KZbinr guy and one in particular with Tyler Carter. Any chance you can do a video with Nick Thurl’s song TOXIC or End Up Dead? I know he’s not super popular but his voice will blow everyone’s mind! Keep these up Chris thanks so much 🙏

Thanks for introducing me to live Teddy Swims - it’s a whole other level of old school styles and awesomeness.

I'm more interested in that double mic technique. I've never seen that done on vocals. I assume they're probably EQ'd differently to bring out the different textures in his voice. His low voice on one with those high harmonics from the rasp on the other. Either that or it's just for automatic doubling to bring more presence. Maybe all of the above? 90% of the magic from an artist comes from the engineer who recorded them. I don't care how good they are They're the unsung heroes of the music industry (pun intended)

Id really like to know that as well! Never seen this double mic technique

Teddy Swims is such a great singer, him and Stapleton have that modern throwback style thats so cool and smooth.

Sigh approach is even more noticeable in “the door” live performances. Probably my favorite song of his so far. He’s diving in false cord in the chorus and it sounds brutal 😊 what a great singer

This, as always, was a great video. I also like that, although the video is on vocal technique, I could see where you were watching and getting caught up in and analysing the musical arrangement (guitar licks etc). At least I know I'm not the only one!

I love Teddy's voice colour, it's also very natural to me to get that colour so this was super fun, specially to practice those blues runs. Excellent work as always Chris, thanks for bringing Teddy to the plateau. It will be great if you can analyse some James Arthur one day, that would be great 😁

Chris, absolutely love your videos. I’ve got your vocal lessons and they are great. I’ve been a professional singer for 30 years, always used my chest which I could get up fairly high (C#,D) but these days my voice is tiring and not bouncing back like it use too! This is why I’m working on my head/mix voice to get it stronger…::but enough about me! I need to point your attention to two of our best and most underrated singers in the world! John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes! They both are Australian treasures and you need to check them out and critique them on your channel! Their voices will blow your mind! They use mix voice like the cream of the crop! Teddy is awesome but John and Jimmy are on another level! 🤘🤠🤘

It's taken me a long time to like this song😂 I think i just kept hearing it randomly on the radio and gas stations and didn't give it a chance. Once I started giving it a chance omg, his voice is so dam good!! Reminds me of Chris Robinson or his rasp is a little like Cobain, very relaxed but more versatile, thank you for doing this one Chris😊

Hey I struggle to stay relaxed when singing higher notes. I tend to push too much energy, which makes my voice tense and forces the sound. I want to hit high notes that are clean and powerful without sounding thin, but still maintain enough control and flexibility for runs and riffs. Any tips?
@chrisliepe23 күн бұрын
Yes! You’ll find victory when you stop trying to hit specific notes in specific ways and instead hone dynamic placement and resonance through strategic exercises that open up your voice on a SPEECH level. Then return to short phrases from the songs you’re trying to sing. I can help you with this in my course Discover Your Voice. You can request an invite to the program at chrisliepe.com. Looking forward to working with you! :)
