Haikyuu has the most fitting and whole ending out of any piece of fiction I have ever read. The only regrets you have after finishing it is that it didn’t last longer. The ideals of the story have imprinted onto our very lives as even for us readers, “this is still volleyball”.

The Brazil training arc literally healed and motivated me inside and out after Karasuno lost to Kamomedai and the whole timeskip. That’s why it felt like such a precious treat to see Shoyo come back so much better prepared and stronger than before. It was also so satisfying and moving to see everyone again (to be honest, it felt like I was there at the reunion, lol). I’m not being dramatic; my life has been up and down, so I can empathize deeply with many moments in this manga. Furudate-sensei has created a masterpiece that has had a profound impact on me. Thank you for analyzing and emphasizing all these precious moments, details, and lessons in Haikyuu!!

I think something interesting about Tobios backstory is that when Kazyo dies, we see that is when Tobio becomes obsessed with improving and speed, it is the need to fine someone better that he is searching for in the wake of his grandfathers death and until the tokyo training camps in season 2, Tobio sees Hinata as a means to an end, not a rival. It is when Tobio sees Hinatas outstanding growth that the two become real rivals and Partners.

Honestly i do not think i have the words to express how great of a conclusion to such an amazing manga this was.It took in to account every character,every relationship,every team,every motive, every detail humanly possible reinforced it and solidified haikyuus greatness in all aspects(while adding new elements to the story like ushijimas and sakusas chemistry).When i first read this i had the same fear as you with the time skip route but after seeing the way furudate handled it i was left 100% satisfied and utterly speechless.I dont know how to explain exactly but it left me with a sweet aftertaste like "be grateful that it happened not sad that it ended'.Whatever kind of media is created in the future haikyu has solidified itself as one of personal favourites and i probably wont forget it for as long as i live.

Great video! I think the thing that bothers me most is when Tanaka sees Hinata serve and says “it’s a jump serve” kinda implying that Hinata had NEVER done that before in the rest of his time in Karasuno which is crazy to me. He’s a kid who’s picked things up and soaked in information like a sponge and we’ve seen players like Asahi and Tanaka pick up a jump serve in the span of months and be mostly successful.
@SWad250
@SWad250 Ай бұрын
It is my nitpick for the time skip. It makes sense that the in universe audience should mirror us readers with how much we know about the players developments since the tournament arc, but in universe it implies it to seem that Hinata stayed more or less stagnant in his high school career when we have seen crazy growth for characters in much less time. But it is ultimately just a nitpick to me.

@@finntheperson670 Good point but I personally think it’s disproven by how the upperclassmen always come back to watch their underclassmen like with Date Tech after their first loss, Karasuno alumni during the Tsubakihara match, Inarizaki during a recap of the timeskip so it’d be safe to say that Tanaka would come back to watch them play as third years.

Literally finished the manga a couple minutes ago so this was a perfect time for this video to pop up. This video details my thoughts exactly, as much as I wanted to see Hinata’s 2nd and 3rd years this match does such an amazing job of wrapping up the story and themes that I can’t be mad. Haikyu isn’t a “perfect” series but something about it is so special that I can’t call it anything less than life changing. What a manga

This is the result of what can happen when you have a sports series that just uses normal (albeit supremely written) characters. They didn't have to save the spirit of volleyball by beating an evil team or anything, and because of it, the narrative could absolutely justify not having Karasuno win at the end. And I like how Hinata's journey kinda undertows the other players'. He needed ot build skills to be truly free, and the rest of them did as well, even though they obviously started from more skilled positions. But this match is beautiful. Hype, but truly beautiful where all the volleyball idiots can enjoy themesleves to the fullest andthe presentation can simply be "this is fun"

The way Karasuno won versus Inarizaki is kind of similar to how Shohoku won against previous national champs Sannoh. Haikyuu tying up lose ends the way it did is how I wanted SlamDunk to end back in the day but I guess that bittersweet ending from the 90's has a special place in my heart too. Thank you Furudate-sensei!

He was a lonely boy, a bit lost after his gramps passed, trying to do things in ways only he knew how ... becoming the "prick" in others' eyes :'( I've always loved Kageyama and thought he's misunderstood bc of how socially awkward he was, but after that Ch387, I love him more, just wanna give him a hug. So the fact that he grows up so well and gets to play with all these awesome people ... I feel so happy for him.

Haikyuu is honestly one of favorites, it’s way of expression is easily one of the best and there’s this terrifying peace when our Mc loses. Any matches in the final arc was so taxing, watching every single player on the court give their all, and all of them have skills. You yourself learn to admire hinata because he is unaffected by this endless struggle. I will never forget the scene of hinata riding his bike over the mountain alone from a camp where he can’t hit the ball

12:26 I don't mean to undermine how impactful kageyama was to hinata. Cause hinata got on the volleyball map because of kageyama being able to make it simple enough for hinata to literally close his eyes and just hit is what helped him get noticed. That being said, kageyama held hinata back at the beginning. Controlling the freak quick, claiming it as his technique, and not wanting hinata to evolve and try new ways to fight on his own. And we see that cause the times hinata really evolves as a player, is when he's not with kageyama. And don't get me wrong, kageyama does motivate like crazy as a rival. But we see hinata treat a lot of others like that. Ushijima, being the mountain he wanted to overcome is a big example. But even to a certain seeing Asahi as his target because he's the ace, or tsuki just for being the same position player. So it does make me wonder, assuming he gets noticed for his potential, what other player would've really evolved hinata the fastest. My guess is either oikawa or bokuto and akaashi. Oikawa brings out the most in his team, to the point he's basically the coach. Bokuto and Akaashi can actually keep up with hinata while both being surprisingly good at breaking things down and explaining them, which would have benefited hinata a lot. Just a what if I always think about, thank you for coming to my rant 🤣

that training arc was probably my fave of any training arc from this medium. from 'One trick phony' to 'The greatest decoy' to 'Ninja Shoyo'. Its probably understatement with how good He is with everything making him a great player for a flex pick or simply that one guy to build a team around since He'll excell in both ways "truly a flower that grow on a concrete"

Honestly the final match has so many great moments and so much content, I wonder how they’ll fit it into a movie, if going by the news they are going to be putting the kamomedai match too, it would be disappointing . The nekoma match in the movie had me feeling a little disappointed, lacking the intensity the manga had. I wish the rest of haikyuu was adapted the same way the first three seasons was, as imo the last three arc are the best in the entire manga. Hopefully 🙏.

My sentiments exactly. Kamomedai can easily be a short season like the one with Shiratorizawa. Then the post-time skip a full season. Actually, the Dumpster Battle deserves a season of its own!

It's so upsetting that we'll only get a single movie for all that's left of the manga. One movie was already too short for the Nekoma match - I can't imagine how they could even remotely do these three separate arcs justice in a single movie.

I am so torn on the last match :/ I think it is a good way to end the story, but I feel like Kageyama got robbed, because the match focuses so much on the progression Hinata made, and fails to show how strong his "equal" is
@Nunelii
@Nunelii Ай бұрын
One of the highlights of the game for me was Kageyama's backstory. And I don't agree when you say not knowing about his backstory would be okay with his personality. Because one character is cold and mysterious doesn't mean we don't need their backstory. On the contrary, you have to justify their flaws and personality. Something would have been very wrong if we didn't got Kageyama's past, because unlike the other major characters (let's not forget that Kageyama is the deuteragonist), we only knew a fraction his past from Oikawa's point of view (and thus, necessarily biased and incomplete). I don't know ANY major character in any media whose backstory and personality aren't explained. Kageyama isn't only there to be Hinata's rival and to be his support, he is a character as a whole and deserved to have a decent background. It adds depth to his character (after 380 chapters, finally) and explains a lot of things about him, his motivation and his behavior. I think this chapter was a slap in the face for everyone who thought they knew the character, while so few had been shown about him actually. Now the negative points. Don't get me wrong, what we saw in that match was everything we, as fans, could hope for. But not condensed in 20 chapters. And I really don't understand how anyone can be satisfied with that, when the match could- should have been at least 15 more chapters long. The author was pressured, it's obvious, as they already were when they cut the Brazil arc after only 10 chapters (when Kageyama and Hinata return face to face, they are supposed not having seen each other for 4 years, but for the fans, it's only been...2 months. A bit underwhelming for me.). But for me you can't have the "most important" game of the manga last only 4 sets in 20 chapters. It's shorter than any major game since the *second seijoh game* in season 2. And when I remember that when I started to see the score fly by in the last set (that shouldn't have been the last), I was like "wtf ? why are they rushing up that part ?" at this point I was REALLY expecting a fifth set and at least 10 more chapters. So it was pretty anticlimatic to see the game abruptly end after 4 sets (and the Adlers losing hmmm anyway that's not the topic). That match was supposed to be our last goodbye to the Haikyu characters, and everything I could feel was "there could have been more", a sense of unachievement. The overall pace in that match felt so rushed. It's like we spent 1 chapter on every major character, and then we were done. And I can't imagine how great the final could have looked like if the end wasn't so rushed. And when you've read as many mangas as I have, you can recognize when and ending is rushed. Not that I blame the author of course, it's probably not their fault. And I'm happy for whoever can appreciate that ending as it is. But personnally I just cannot. I follow the Haikyu manga and anime since 2015 and seeing it be so rushed at the most important moment was very underwhelming fro me, because I considered that until there the manga was flawless. And on the content, it still is (mostly). But on the form, that ending really feels hurried.
