So, I've done further research on this album and have found out the following: The Matrix didn't want to release the album with Katy because they didn't think it would amount to much. However, when Katy become famous after the release of One of the Boys, they decided to release the album on iTunes. How pathetic tbh wanting to just use her fame for money. Also, this song was originally called "What Do You Do" but they changed it before the official release in 2009.

"In 2008, The Matrix made tentative plans to release the album through their own record label, Let's Hear It Records.[8] These plans were soon halted, however, after Perry's debut single, "I Kissed a Girl", achieved international commercial success after its release in April 2008. Christy contacted Perry about moving forward with the release of The Matrix, prompting Perry to ask the production team to wait to release the album until after the release of the fourth and final single from One of the Boys (2008).[8] Despite this suggestion, The Matrix was released on iTunes on January 27, 2009, by Let's Hear It Records.[8] The album received no promotion and failed to attain any notable commercial success. Prior to the album's release, Christy reiterated that The Matrix was not striving for commercial success, but rather just releasing the songs as a creative outlet. She stated: "We don't want to be pop stars, and we're not releasing it on a major label. And it's not called 'Katy Perry and the Matrix.' These are just great songs, and I'm very proud of it"."

Update: If you check the description for this song you can see it has a copyright as “What Do You Do” by The Troys. This is because it was originally their song and Broken is simply a recreation. There was also no duet parts in the original interestingly enough.

A-lot of these songs from the Matrix album were reused into other songs, for other artists. Which was from 2005-2008, shows how good these songs were. My issue is Katy was original, and had such a great voice. Once her Debut Album hit & Teenage Dream took off Prism had such high expectations & it was a good album. But Witness ended up being a flop, Katy Perrys most involved album from herself. Smile doesn’t even sound like Katy Perry anymore. Its as if she lost her voice of what made it unique from the label over-processing it. Now her latest song, she sounds back to form.
