Yeah the combat is very good, but the graphics are not. Even so, it's incredible how detailed the movements are, with real kung fu captures, a job well done in this part.

The combat in this game was ahead of its time. And many of its mechanics have yet to make a return in gaming, especially with how hand-holdy too many games have become in the AAA space. I absolutely loved the way multi-targeting is done here. Always made me feel more of an active participant during combat. Sure, multi-counters in the Arkham games look cool, but there's something different about actually picking your targets one by one in real time.

I played this game a lot because it was one of the few that had a good variation of kung fu movements. To this day it is one of the best beat em up for sure

What the best way to launch an enemy in the air to perform a mid air grab? I upgraded aerial strike lv2 and it causes my kicks to launch enemies way too far away and I cant perform mid air grabs manually anymore. I could try ignoring the upgrade by the game forces you to upgrade to start the next level.

You can ignore aerial strike.... Chose another skill, i hate lv2 too

Haha yeah me too I always used lv1 from the beginning to the end of the game because it's really cool to Evade (focus evade) and then kick with lv1

9:16 you dont know how happy i am to finally see the code breaker move being revealed here. I mean, when I was a kid playing this, I would always do it on accident, but never figure out what triggered Neo to suddenly lift the enemy up in the air like that and keep striking him

There's also level 2 variant of disarm weapon too where Neo kicks enemy's weapon back so Neo can use it against him like what Trinity did in the movie as she kicked spas-12 shotgun for her to use.. I couldn't get it to work since enemies will always focus on you. leaving this level 2 disarm ability unusable for most players

Yes, exactly this way the game shows this movement when it's time to unlock/buy. I tried several ways but it didn't happen, it's very random

there is just one combo i can't get, it is the codebreaker, it just keeps doing the kick finisher instead of an uppercut

Yes. but I believe that quantity is not a problem for this combo. The One is a more difficult combo and sometimes requires Focus control (this means you can release the button and press it again during an important sequence). But The Codebreaker is relatively EASY to do, I can't give you tips, but try not to follow the animation but do the button sequences without worrying about the character's animation... because you'll end up finishing the Kick instead of The Codebreaker. The rest is Perception, you will succeed if you try again. 👍
