In videogames developers tend to add things here to stay creative while also following the plot, my assumption in this case is that it's like on the movie the scene when Morpheus was teaching Neo how to fight in the simulation program, and they showed the computer guy had many fighting programs, so i like to think that this was during that time frame when Neo was training.
