Do you think it's possible to incorporate a Max Martin BoyBand drum loop, and put those replicated drum sounds into a trap/hip hop based groove or feel? I believe that especially with that special synth bass that is on top of the usual slap bass and orchestral hits, or piano impacts that I hear
@LeifBent8 ай бұрын
yeah for sure!! the concept stays the same! it’s adding divisions to a groove to change the feel. Think of a trap beat with other without a hihat. completely different worlds. stuff like that

Thanks for this interesting idea about hi hats! I always disliked creating hi hat patterns, but this might make it more interesting because it seems they can really add something interesting to the song! I was bouncing my head when I heard it! Also, whereas I do think this hi hat loop sounds really quite interesting and pretty pro in your song, I think it's influence on the song would be far greater if it would not be a bit overshadowed by other instruments that are 'in it's way' like the synth bas (that appears too loud or thick compared to the drums) or the piano . I think neither really help the hi hat pattern to be exposed enough to be really heard and thus appreciated. I think other less punchy instruments such as strings or pads of any kind would give this nice hi hat pattern more exposure. Such instruments could still be relatively loud and still expose the hi hat pattern. Also, I think the hi hat loop give this nice groovy rhythm to the song, whereas for example the piano does not also play something groovy, but rather plays something that is usually played in ballads without clear rhythmic complexity.

thanks for the input!! yeah it’s crazy how even just a couple of elements playing together like that can influence the whole feel and levels or adding/ leaving one out changes the entire mood of the song

I love your voice, I love your tips, I love your instrument choice, but I god damn hate that moog pattern! It just makes me wanna draw blood. Love your work tho!

@@LeifBent I guess one thing I wonder the most, since I can't sing, would be prerecording vocal warm ups. I did work with some amazing local singers but never was able to draw their true potential. Other things like applied music theory, since there are a lot of videos about it, but not that many about how to apply it. Sound design and instrument choice (not the for this choose this type, but the for this you should choose a instrument with that kind of characteristics). Since I am not familiar with your entire cv to know what you know best to the point of teaching others, I am not entirely sure what exactly you could speak on the best. Ps: I still hate that moog and still love everything else, might I say I love more the entire package then the pieces apart. Music might be spectrum of diverse opinions, but I know I like your music! Peace and love from Romania!

hey brother, random question...do you happen to know the average length of his songs? I can't find anything online...I have a song that is 2minutes and 20 seconds long and I'm trying to figure if there is a way to make it longer...but I thought well I wonder how long Max's songs are
@LeifBent2 жыл бұрын
that changes from song to song!! the songs he did 15 years ago were longer than the ones now 😄
