Ok so this song “All Too Well” is a fan favorite song of her album “Red”. This song WASNT a single or anything it’s just so impactful that fans loved it so much that it became a favorite. On the original Red album (not the re-recorded version) the song was 6 minutes I think… but in the re-recorded version, instead of just keeping the 6 minute version on the album she ADDS the 10 minute version as well (which is what you get in the short film). The song reflects her relationship with her and Jake Gyllenhaal back in 2011. And us swifties a think that a good chunk of the songs on Red are about him.

Taylor in an interview said that the song was originally 10 minutes long but when she released Red in 2012 she cut it to 5.30 minutes. But then it became a fan favourite and when she revealed that it was originally longer the fans had started asking her for the longer version. So now, in the Taylor's Version album, she put both the shorter and the longer (original) version. Also about the party: Taylor and Jake (she was 20 and him 29 at the time) broke up "officially" the night of her 21th birthday party when he didn't show up ( she explains it in the song "the moment I knew") Love the reaction😍

Waiting for this one! loving your Taylor journey. Just so you understand the kitchen scene, he gaslit her. She had a right to respond to him ignoring her all night and tossing her hand aside. Because it is a short film, we only get so much right? So we need to pick up on all the clues. The car scene when he is arguing on the phone and she overhears something, then he's apologizing for it in the car (probably arguing with a girl and she over heard, but who knows), he tossed his car keys at her, he's angry at something, we don't know but this scene depicts him with a temper and might be cheating on her, but we don't know. The dinner scene was just another clue, he was sitting far away from her, not touching her or including her, tossed her hand aside. Those are all the clues we are given. She has a right to feel something about that. but, instead he told her it was her fault being quiet and weird, told her she was being stupid, and selfish, and that he had a blast, and that his friends were super f***ing nice to her too (as if they were doing him a favor). His apology was insincere. See? Its a pattern. things good, then bad, then he apologizes, then good, then bad, then he apologizes..... then he calls her up "again" just to break her like a promise. A pattern. The birthday cake scene in which he didn't show up for her 21st birthday party (true story). Its a pattern of bad behavior and gaslighting her for reacting to it, telling her its in her head, its her fault. finally, he breaks up with her and uses the age gap as the reason, why is a 30yr old dating a 20 yr old who still lives with her parents in the first place? Because she is easier to manipulate at age 20 with no life or relationship experience than it would be to manipulate a 31 yr old grown adult with experience. Most people who watch this scene are very upset by it and some even cry because it is horrible what he did to her. Its not a sweet ending when he apologizes and they hug. Its actually the most disturbing part of the scene. the breaking point, is in the morning she has his shirt on if you notice, she goes over and kisses him on the head and he breaks up with her. Soooo. the remembering this relationship that was good..... no. that's not right. The relationship was NOT good based on the essay I wrote above. It was not this great relationship. It was a toxic, manipulative relationship with an older man.

It wasn't done with filters, it was actually filmed on real film which gives it a dreamy quality. And the fight scene shows how Taylor was gaslit & manipulated by Jake, nearly 10 years older then her & her first major everything! The car is from 1989 (an Easter egg from Taylor about which album she's rerecording next.) If you look in the credits it says "Him, Later On- Jake Lyons" who is also credited as being a Gaffer in the film. Interesting that instead of having Dylan do that scene, Taylor chose a random guy named "Jake" even though she never names Jake Gyllenhaal outright (and yes he did break up with her right around her birthday). Her mind is insane! P.S. Taylor's always been blonde, and no she didn't write a book-the one you saw for sale is just blank inside for people to use as a journal. Btw, think about the heartbreak you just saw that girl go thru in the movie & now think-that was essentially Taylor's actual experience from that relationship when she was only 20-21! She fell in love with someone way older that she thought was a dream,who never said he loved her, kept her a secret, manipulated & gaslit her, broke up with her, then cruelly called her to "be honest" about his feelings! Instead of writing a book,she wrote Red!

The age gap between is 10 yrs and intentional bc that's around the age Taylor and Jake were when they dated. Taylor was 21 and Jake was 29. I Thought the actors are a really good choice but like the kissing scenes made me a bit umcomfy just bc of the age gap and bc I love both actors...idk it just makes me umcomfy a bit even though it's just acting. But it really shows the age difference when Taylor and Jake dated. Anyway
