I would believe this is because she is getting better and more mature on song writing compared with different eras, after all the vaults songs were written at that specific era, that particular phase of her life. And this makes me more interested and excited in what she gonna put in the 1989 and reputation 😆but maybe speak now tv will be released first😂

Me again the message of forever winter is very sad cause Taylor best friend died of overdose at the time speak now was released (2010) and when she found out she broke down in some award show so she wrote the song but never put it on the album cause if I'm correct the label forced her not to put it in

Remember that Vault tracks were never released so she has no reason to keep them as they were, unlike the released ones. She kinda mentiones it in some interview recently. So we don't know if Message in a Bottle had this sound exactly.

I'm not sure if anyone has already said it, but 'message in a bottle' and 'the very first night' are most likely about Harry Styles. Harry was living in London at the time and there are many 'out of the woods' references in 'the very first night'.
