I don't get the PRS Silver Sky. Looks like a strat, but doesn't sound like a strat. Has a 7.25" fretboard radius (which means the fretboard is pretty round like vintage Fender instruments). I love my 7.25" radius on my tele because it makes it super snappy, but I would hate it on a strat...

Never like when a company moves back away from locking tuners. They literally do a better job, make changing strings a breeze, idk I just don’t see why you’d want vintage tuners on a guitar over locking.
@djt65465 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. I reckon this is the tone people often expect and miss when they pickup the 594 for the first time. But the 594 is a lot clearer/brighter that it’s original inspiration. Perhaps many of us have been looking at & trying out the wrong guitar 😊 I am very very impressed and surprised how vintage sweet/rich this guitar demo sounds in comparison to the new 594 video released at the same time. Can you tell us if (more or less) the same amp settings were used for both of the 2020 McCarty & McCarty 594 videos? If so this McCarty video may have just given a serious upsurge in 2020 McCarty sales! Very sweet indeed and awesome playing as always Brian 👍
@djt65465 жыл бұрын
...but their both the same generation of 58/15LT’s. I also believe a guitar is greater than the sum of it’s parts. Even 2 identical guitars can sound different so comparing only 2 videos is hardly conclusive. But the McCarty does come across so much richer and creamy that it’s definitely worth trying out next year, especially as I find the core 594 a little bright/brash. It’s also interesting to hear Brian admit in this video that the bridge pickup is one of the sweetest he has come across. Could just be this particular guitar and the way he set it up with the amp as a one off, but I hope not. I’ll be taking a good look at them next year :-)
@CarlyonProduction2 жыл бұрын
@@djt6546 yeah I found this McCarty to sound incredible. I think what a lot of people like about the 594 is the feel. It’s easier to play because of the shorter scale length. Also the neck carve on the 594 is the pattern vintage. I also think stop tail pieces are easier to play whilst wrap tails give more snap. It is interesting though, people have been raving about the 594, but as soon as the new pickups are put in the original McCarty, it comes alive.

Are saddle bridges still relevant? Every PRS with a stoptail bridge, that I have played, has been perfectly intonated! Even the few Gibson Junior models that I've played that have a similar stoptail bridge, felt great to play. I only bring this up because I noticed that it is one of the differences between the McCarty 594 and The McCarty. Cheers!

When I bought my PRS in 2019 I had to choose between the 24-08 or the 594. I decided on the 24-08 because it’s my first PRS and I wanted to own a PRS not a Gibson. But man I feel like I made the wrong choice. The 24-08 is phenomenal but I really needed the vintage feel and sound with the PRS craftsmanship. Would love to own a 594 or McCarty.
