0:12 the F1 wasnt "born out of McLaren's championship-winning mindset," it was born out of Gordon Murray's obsession with perfection and desire to create such a car. You're attempting to rewrite history. Without Murray, there would be no F1.

People will probably have a problem with this but I don’t consider the F1 a real McLaren. The brand was dead for decades then bought back to life by rich guys to have Gordon Murray produce the ultimate road car the F1. It even had a bmw engine so what did McLaren really provide there? Manufacturing yes but not design or engineering. That was all Mr Murray. Cars like the 12c and onwards I can kind of get behind but the real McLaren’s are the lemans and grand am monsters Bruce built and drove himself.
