Hi Liam, another great video, as always. Congrats again on impending fatherhood, and hope the house move goes well and not too stressful! Particularly liked the shots of the Jay, Caspian gull and the waxwings. Also didn't realise that there were so many types of duck. Yes, that heron did look grumpy! A great day filming a good variety of wildlife. 👍

Had a great walk recently where I saw several views of a kingfisher as we followed it down a lake and its colours were great. We also saw a Goldcrest for the first time, as well as Robins, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Moorhens, Squirrels, Goldfinch's and many more. It's impressive how much wildlife you find and the goose you found I had seen in the past, unsure what it was.

Congratulations Liam and family. During Covid on my daily walk in Moston Manchester, I was treated to a show of a flock of lesser spotted wood peckers roughly 7 in a tree adjacent to old wooded land in a cemetery. I am not a bird watcher but was fascinated. I came home and looked the bird up. I was so surprised and amazed at seeing something so rare. During Covid there was no traffic and hardly any people, whether this made a difference I don’t know. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera or cell phone with me. But the memory is very precious. God has made a wonderful creation. I really enjoy your walks.
@stnldvs10 ай бұрын
I don’t mean to deliberately ruin your excitement, but lesser spotted woodpeckers are now a quite rare bird in the UK, and the main strongholds for the species are in the southeast. There possibly could be one or two pairs left in the Manchester area however if there is any, the locations are kept strictly private due to potential disturbance. I think it’s quite unlikely for 7 to be in one tree anywhere in the UK, even in their strongholds, as they are uncommon and do not typically flock.

Congratulations to you and your wife, that's great news. I had no idea that green woodpeckers didn't peck trees like other woodpeckers, so have certainly learned something new...they're not as common up here in Scotland but I will keep an eye out

My warmest congratulations on your forthcoming arrival Liam! Perhaps a factfile on storks would be appropriate.. I have noticed how changes in water levels can mix things up a bit, I've recently seen the non native Egyptian geese, which are v naughty and irrascible, coming away from the river and causing hilarious little problems in suburban gardens, which waxwings can also do. One lady I visited was SO keen to show me her winter garden, full of colourful berries, but the waxwings had got there first, so no berries at all.. All the best with the move. You'll be extra busy but v happy. Nice one Liam! ⭐👍

I found out recently that the preferred spawning habitat for Carp is flooded grass beds. A few days after the rain things must be flooded with carp fry and no doubt other cyprinids do the same. It allows them to escape big predatory fish but birds can get at them wherever they are.

Maternity units abs visits followed by Nurserys, schools, doctors, hospitals, shops and easy access to transportation. So you do the opposite and go rural😂😂😂.
